Now that the outing thread is finally rolling, firefighting instead of spending a summer with friends and a weekend with cool strangers is sounding less alluring by the minute.

One thing to keep in mind ... those of you who are throwing out dates you're available and not available; don't do that unless you PLAN on being there - no if's, and's or but's.
From my experience with the two SportsJournalists.com outings already, a lot of people "talk a good game" -- it's showing up that's a different story.
    Thanks for listenin', ya'll.

Host picks the date that works best for the host. It's that simple. And Inky is hereby designated official host. Which means he picks date, finds hotel and arranges for ticket purchase.

Still need to hear from a Denver/SF/Seattle/somewhere west SportsJournalists.commer willing to be 08 host. Back east in 09.

    I vote San Diego.

That said, I'm not in San Diego so I can't be host. 8)

I'm on vacation July 8-24. I waited as long as I could for dates to be set for this outing, but my boss required my vacation request two weeks ago.

I would be more than happy to host, but I can't recommend where I'm at as a decent place for an outing.

I do, however, have family in Seattle, so if nobody else wants to step up, I'll host a Seattle outing.

Where you live would be awesome, but it doesn't have the biggest airport and no MLB team.
I would recommend Seattle over any California city, but that is just me.

As far as the Dallas outing, I want to suggest the Flying Saucer bar in Fort Worth as a place to go. It is in Sundance Square. Fort Worth is way better than Dallas, in my opinion.

They have Pyramid, so I may have to show for that. Plus, Full Sail. Sadly no Henry's, though.

You don't have to live in a city to be the host. I do not live in the city where I was the host. If Sportschick wants to host in Seattle, she may do that and, if she PMs me with a confirmation that she's serious, it will get serious 2008 consideration. You can arrange for hotels, tickets, etc., from places outside the city and then stay in the hotel with the rest of us.

I wasn't saying she couldn't, I was just saying her neck of the woods is pretty cool it just doesn't have an MLB team.

How many baseball games do the people at the outings typically go to? One, two or even three? Also, how many days do the outings tend to be?

I attended the first outing (albeit under a different handle) and when I say I'll be there, dammit, I'm there.

    I like early June.
