I like the skills competition. If they could find a reason to do that without the stupid game, I'm on board.

Execute them both. It's impossible in sports as physical as hockey and football to come close to replicating a real game.

NHL players can go to Hawaii too. The Leafs, for example, will be there by mid-April. :D

I'm definitely with you here. That is always more entertaining, and the players seem to be genuinly enjoying themselves.

Hee's a terrific story in the "What happened to....." vein on Felix Potvin by Pierre LeBrun

My favourite Leafs goalie of the last 15-20 years. He projected the image of a monk in net. Totally unflappable and a major force in the Leafs' runs to the conference championships in 93 and 94.

He seemed like an ascetic, an other worldly character until this:

People were surprised at the time, as well. No one knew about his dexterity with the fists.

"My three junior seasons in Chicoutimi, we had a pretty tough team," he said. "By the end of practice, guys were joking around and fighting. I guess it helped."

Yes, there is a rugged side to Mr. Potvin. Since we last saw him, he's added a few more tattoos on his arms. Another hobby.

"I was a punk rocker growing up," he said. "I keep adding [tattoos]. I still love that music."

Best goalie fight I've seen...better than the Roy/Vernon/Osgood ones.

Ny eldest's first hockey sweater when he was six or seven .

    Attended last night's Ducks-Avs game.

Darcy Tucker was helped off the ice after collision with Brendan Morrison in the third period. Rocky Mountain News reports it is a knee injury.

Tough last few games for the Avs in SoCal -- Sakic's bad back, Foote crushed into the boards and Wolski out, too.

Great form by Potvin in that fight: got Hextall's mask off, jerseyed him and switched hands.

I'll bet Ron Hextall was sure as shit surprised.

I saw that game on TV and I couldn't believe it. Hextall ended up pretty bloodied.

I was trying to find the Joe Bowen call because it was one of his best.

    Question for the Canada crew:

Does anyone know the best way to contact Pat Quinn these days? If you have any leads for me, PM me. Thanks!

GREAT video!!!! Thank you! I always liked Potvin (and Hextall)...

look at Hextall's equipment, his chest protector....it doesn't bulk up his sweater and serve any other purpose than protection.

He's coaching our world junior team, so you might try contacting someone at the Hockey Canada head offices.

Selection camp starts Dec. 11 in Ottawa.
