Individual teams commemorate "Slap Shot" - the Bruins just had a Hanson Brothers night a couple of weeks ago - but the NHL, as an entity, wants nothing to do with it.

 

When you scale this against steroids, morons shooting themselves at a night club, getting into fights at bars, gangsta mentality ... I'm sorry, this doesn't even rank.

JC is right. The NHL (and CBC, the Mothership, for that matter) gives Don Cherry a voice and he has said things far more offensive than calling a spade a spade.

I would venture that most hockey fans, players and now the league are sick and tired of Avery's Antics.

The NHL will do what it always does--take the player's history into account.

 

That's exactly what happened. The league looked at Avery's history before suspending him.

 

Plus, this wasn't something that was just blurted out. It was a deliberate attempt to, um, inflame a Flame.

To defame a Flame's dame?

I just think it goes back to the advice I learned a few years ago: consider the source.

Avery is a jerk. I, however, find him entertaining. He wants the attention, he knows what to say to get the attention. He'll eventually flame out. But for calling out Cuthbert for being a ho? Whoop-dee-friggin' doo.

 

Double J has been drinking.

 

Everywhere he has coached (ECHL, AHL, NHL) Peter's teams did best early in his tenure.

 

That's what really pisses me off.
