Yes. Matter of fact, the U.S. just announced the final roster.

    Didn't know that.

Invited 38 kids but as Nicholson or Quinn said, they could have invited 60.

And a Mimico kid got invited to the camp. Breandan Smith who played for the Buzzers and is now a Wisconsin Badger.

TSN had the same thing last night.

I also don't think it can be reinforced enough that the league was trying to avoid another bertuzzi/moore situation and they absolutely should. Bertuzzi/moore is a situation the league is still dealing with. Hell when Burk was hired by the Leafs he was being asked -- the day of his press conference -- about how awkward the relationship will be between him and Dominic Moore (Steve Moore;s brother). The thing is the two guys most likely to do something to Avery last night in a Bertuzzi-like fashion are two guys the league cannot risk to lose like a Bertuzzi -- Iginla and Phaneuf. I would love to see either of them throttle Avery, but if something serious happened the league would be fucked. That is a PR hit they cannot afford to go through again.

Let's also keep in mind that it is an indefinite suspension only until Avery talks to the league. From there the Commissioner and Campbell will determine an appropriate length of suspension. The NHL wanted to act quick yesterday and that was the quickest way to do it.

What does Flash have against Cuthbert? Your reaction is that she had it coming? I'm sorry just because she is in the public eye does not mean she automatically is a "ho" or should be called something as degrading as "sloppy seconds", no matter how juvenile the comment is. I've also thought she has generally carried herself well. She's had what three public relationships in the past five or six years? Not exactly what I call a ho, even if two of them happen to be hockey players.

At the end of the day you do have freedom of speech, but if you continue to embarrass your employer you're eventually going to have to suffer the consequences.

Garnering attention is not the same thing as growing the sport.

Do you think Bubba who saw this crap is going to suddenly become a hockey fan?

You need to get on a plane back to Calgary.

    Christ you're cranky

Thanks for putting words in my mouth, Beef. Nowhere did I say she had it coming. But for crying out loud, a puckfuck is a puckfuck.

You think that's the first time anybody has called her that? It's just that Avery said it out loud.

    Big fucking deal.

The NHL will get new fans because of that.

And I'm not cranky at all. I'm being pragmatic as a marketer.

I should apologize for not agreeing with you? Get bent.

Again. Get bent. I'm not cranky at all. But you and JR are on the verge of making me so.

Really in his first stint in Carolina the only bad year he had was his last year, and that was the year following a Cup final appearance. before then it was something 7 years of improvement of the team's record in a row.

Just talked to a buddy. Initially, he wanted to see Phaneuf and Iginla beat the hell out of Avery. But, as you said, what if there was a Bertuzzi-like incident? My friend's point was that people would have been bitching that the league not reacting.

You know it is kind of funny that Avery dated two Hollywood actresses who are now with Flames.

Not to give him the bennie or anything, but maybe he was trying to make a joke that went all wrong?

    A better approach:

"The Calgary Flames, of all teams! Hey actresses, it's a big NHL out there. Lots of possibilities."
