Well, we finally agree on something. Beats talking about proroguing. :)

This Avery thread is a little bit of a microcosm of the world at large.

For the most part we get the dyed in the wool hockey fans here, people who care about the sport and are mostly passionate about it.

Then an incident like this happens and we get non hockey people (this is a statement of fact, not a value judgement), wander over, some of whom probably have never heard of Sean Avery before, throw in their two cents worth and leave.

Do any of them go away from here and think, "I gotta find me a hockey game"? Doubt it.

I absolutely agree with you. But I want it to grow and I want people to be drawn to it because of what it is, not because of what those who would pussify it want it to be, with glowing pucks and shit like that.

I find it totally fascinating that we wound up with a team in Anaheim inspired by a fucking Disney movie that, while entertaining in some spots, by and large made hockey purists want to gag. Years later, you look at that team, and what happened?? They dropped the Mighty moniker, dropped the gloves, chucked the knuckles and won the Stanley Cup. Coincidence?? I think not! :D

For the record, JR, I'm one of those dreadful "ignore the regular season, watch the playoffs" types. :)

Nothing dreadful about that, as long as you're watching at some point.

PTI's lead topic? Avery. ESPN buries hockey coverage and hardly ever talks about the sport unless something bad happens. I shouldn't be amazed.

Bettman's punishment for spurning the Worldwide Leader.

The blood of the league are on his hands.

I still love me some Bruins, Kings, and AHL hockey even if I don't frequent this thread much.

Flash, Whoops! Then I totally don't get Avery's joke. ;D

I wasn't offended by the comment, and I doubt Cuthbert is...

But I have to admit, the word "sloppy" when used in conjunction with "seconds" conjures up a certain image for me, and it ain't good.

    Still........ C'mon.

I'm much more offended by Rangers management sexually harassing a bunch of employees and nobody giving a rat's ass.

Shit, sometimes that's the smartest thing to do.

A February tilt between Los Angeles & Tampa isn't exactly the most spellbinding entertainment in the world.

Hell, I know people who will watch the Leafs for the entire regular season, then not watch the playoffs because the Leafs aren't in it. Sad

Terrific game on Yahoo for those of us south of the border. Rangers and Penguins could be about to head to overtime.

Crosby has been absolutely phenomenal in the third period, and yet the Pens have been unable to put the game away.

Luke DeCock at the Raleigh, N.C., paper points out that Laviolette may not be out of work long with some other coaches in tenuous positions:
