Avery got three times the penalty Randy Jones did for almost ending Patrice Bergeron's career last year. 'Nuff said.

 

Well, here's a good one.

The Stars wanted to waive Avery before this incident and send him down to the Manitoba Moose.

Moose owner Mark Chipman basically says, "Not on your fucking life".

Larry Brooks made the same argument two days ago in a column. What's worse for the league? Randy Jones and Chris Pronger running around and intentionally hurting their fellow players or Sean Avery being Sean Avery?

That said, if the Stars had decided to suspend him, I would not have had an issue with the organization's decision.

 

The PA should stand against this.

Whether it will or not remains to be seen.

I understand the PA is probably reluctant to be seen as coming to the defence of Sean Avery. If it doesn't step up, though, the NHL will have created a dangerous precedent here.

 

And it'll be even more interesting to see what the PA does if Hicks decides to declare scumbucket's contract null and void through the "best interests of the game" clause which is part of the SPC.

Should he have said it? No. Does he deserve a suspension? I don't think he does, but I can see where the league's coming from.

if the target of Avery's comment wasn't a celebrity but just a lady who happened to have dated 2 hockey players,...I could see the Stars suspending him. But to think these comments should get him booted from the league and terminate his contract? come on
