    Elliotte,
I get what you're saying. But the names that were brought up in the possibility of engaging were Phaneuf and Iginla. Phaneuf doesn't strike me as the type to lose his cool -- and he's at ample opportunity in the past. Even as a junior, he played his game calmly, fought when needed, but I never once saw him freak out Bertuzzi-style. And Iginla? Well, knowing Iginla (not well, mind you, but we've had several occasions to chat), I have higher hopes that he would let his team drop to that level.
It troubles me that it sets a precedent where the league yanks the chain just to prevent something from happening ... when it may never enter the realm of possibility. What's next? A full game? Changing the schedule to ensure two teams never meet in a season ... oh wait, never mind.
As for Avery, of course it's a mark of immaturity. The hubris he displays will be his downfall. Some of us eventually grow out of it. ;) It's up to Avery to decide when that happens ... but, as we all know, there's a career in fashion waiting for him, no?

Any word on how far down the hockey foodchain Avery will fall? Obviously the Moose don't wan't anything to do with him, what about their ECHL team, or do they have the same right of refusal that Manitoba has?

my beer league team could use a forward....I'm not sure Avery could crack the lineup though.

The way I'm understanding it, the Stars don't have an official AHL team this year. The Moose usually get first refusal, but they're also using Peoria, Iowa, Houston, Grand Rapids and Hamilton according to this.

They're transitioning into their new Texas Stars organization, which begins operation in Austin next season. As such, they could offer him around to anyone who wants to take him if the Moose don't want him.

The Sabres ownership is denying that they're shopping the team.

Check the independent AHL teams. Hamilton, for example, doesn't want Avery anywhere near its prospects.

No, the Lightning are just awful. 3-0 Boston, late in the first.

Nice come-from-behind win by the Sabres over the Penguins, after trailing 3-1.

The Bolts are just trying to get a headstart on next season. Hedman or Tavares, who will the Bolts take?

How about Avery going to the KHL, to a team with no English speaking players? Hard to get himself in trouble then. :).
