Internet geeks everywhere rejoice: Capitals sign team's Web site producer as backup goalie

A 6-foot-7 Web site producer for the Washington Capitals prepared to dress as the team's backup goalie for Friday night's game against the Ottawa Senators because of an injury to Jose Theodore.

Brett Leonhardt, who played Division III hockey in college, signed an amateur tryout contract before the game. If he were to actually get on the ice, he would tie the record for tallest goalie ever to play in an NHL game.

They showed some clips of him in warm-up on TSN. For his sake I hope he doesn't get on the ice.

He might turn in a Van Damme-esque performance though :D

I think the Devils just scored again.

I know this much, he can't be any worse than Theodore has been. Luckily Johnny is so hot Theodore isn't needed.

Those guys looked great again last night. The Ovie/Backstrom/Semin line is the best in hockey. Period. Green has some Norris trophies in his future. I'm not relying on Johnson for keeping it up forever, but I'm loving what he's doing in the pipes right now.

They just called up Varlamov to replace Theodore too. First round pick I know nothing about but he may start in Montreal. Hopefully he shows a little something.

The fucking Cappies sure are fun though.

The Caps are really dangerous now that they've got a lot of the injured players back. They're really fortunate that Brent Johnson improved so much since last season considering management put its money on Theodore after one "pretty good" year.

Varlamov makes his NHL debut tonight in Montreal. Caps have not done well on the back-end of back-to-backs this year.

They had another young guy, Alexander Giroux, who looked good last night too. Couldn't finish for shit, but he had some opportunities. Don't know anything about the guy though.

This is how the sheet is supposed to be placed at Wrigley Field for the Winter Classic. It would seem to make more sense to put it either down the left-field line or the right-field line. At least if you do that, there will be people who have decent seats.

Richard might have been Montreal's greatest forward of all time, but hockey's greatest-ever forward played for Detroit, Houston and Hartford. Just saying. :)

pretty sure you mean Edmonton, LA, New York and St.Louis.

or were you talking about the gentleman that played for Vancouver and Boston?
