Pavel Datsyuk and Nick Lidstrom are going to sit out Tuesday's game in Columbus because they're not in Montreal for the farcical All-Star Game.

I'm not sure there's a point in forcing players who are injured or who need the weekend to recuperate from the first half of the season, to make the All-Star trip.

 

That was pretty scary.

Bound to happen when you've got two guys who are both 6'5" and in the neighbourhood of 240 pounds.

It's this kind of calculated fighting - right off the opening face-off - that I don't particularly care for.

 

Here's a Division III goalie who just set an NCAA record for saves in one game - 95.

His team only lost 4-0 despite being outshot 99-11.

 

I agree, this shit is WWE. Fights that come from passion and reaction are the ones that I'm OK with. There was 0 reason for this fight to happen.

 

Unless something happened in the warmup or if there was previous bad blood between these guys. If either of those are the case, fine. But if it's just two thugs who are gonna go off the draw just because they can, that's stupid.

 

And the move to ban fighting gains more momentum.

 

Translated: the hand-wringers sound off a little more and get a little louder.

 

I find most fights boring but the NHL ain't gonna abolish it any time soon
