The ghost of Murray Murdoch, the original No. 9, does not rest easy.......

It would be interesting to see what the home team's record is on nights when a number is retired.

I know what you mean. The Oilers helped the Senators snap their 12-game road loasing streak earlier in the season then a few nights later would have done the same thing for the Islanders if the Islanders had any luck at all that wasn't bad luck.

On that note, the Oilers should have been blown out 9-2 again by the Blackhawks, apparently, if not for Roli. Game was on PPV. Not about to plunk down the cash to watch these bums. The more the season goes on the more I am believing the players, or at least a good chunk of them, have quit on MacTavish. They are just not competitive.

Sure enough, some folks are calling for heads here. They won't name names, though.

13-20-8 on the road isn't exactly a stellar stat.

It was plain to see four months ago that the Oilers' goaltending was not up to scratch. It's been spectacular some nights and inconsistent on most. They have done nothing to improve it. That is one reason for their lack of success.

Also, MacTavish is not a bad coach. But I believe he is running into the same problem that most long-term coaches do eventually — the guys are simply tuning him out. Hemsky, Horcoff, Pisani, Staios, and Moreau have been listening to the same voice every night for the last seven-plus years. It was bound to happen. It's time for a coaching change in Edmonton.

Who in their right mind ever thought that was a no-lose situation?

I always liked MacIntyre. Nice guy, too.

Apparently the buffoons who run that sadass organization.

I bet Luongo wishes he were somewhere else.

Sorry but it was a no lose situation. You add a player without losing a roster player or draft picks. If it doesn't work out(which it's not) he isn't signed beyond this year. It was a worthwhile risk gone horribly wrong.
Fats Sundin hoodwinked people. They need to blow this team up.

You're right about MacIntyre, real good guy.

Yeah, JC, but you're adding a player halfway through the year who isn't game ready and has a heap of expectations (that he was never able to realize in Toronto) onto him.

He wasn't the answer to the great question in Vancouver.
