I'm curious to see the reaction from sponsors. They can't be too pleased that about 200 eyeballs will see their million-dollar sponsorships turn laps in the dead of night.

As Kyle Busch told ESPN, "We race when they tell us." Nice rebel spirit there, driver-boy.

Yeah, then they'll all be bitching after the race that they never should have restarted.

    Bunch of fucking wusses.

1 ET start time for the Nationwide race.

Those former Busch whackers may have time for a cup of coffee before starting that thing.

To begin with, the Sprint Cup guys shouldn't be allowed in drive in the Nationwide series.
That's another totally fucked up thing about NASCAR.

    Fucking. Shit.

Eight hours I sit up waiting for this shit? REally? Media will now leave the track at 11 p.m. just to have to get there by like 7 a.m.? Really?

    Bullshit.

Damn. I just ate a burrito. Now I'm subjected to an infomercial on how that burrito will stay with me until I try their colon cleanser.

If the Cup race is at 1, when is the not-Busch race?

Ahh, well, we're back home now. Despite no racing, was well worth the trip, considering we didn't spend a dime and it was like 15 minutes away.

I sweet-talked our way into the grandstand, and we walked around for a while and took a few pictures as they were trying to dry the track. Kind of cool to take it all in -- would've been even cooler to see a few laps. Oh well.

Talked to our 3 writers still there, including my boss, plus a certain former colleague and former SJer who sold his soul :D, and they were plenty pissed after a long-ass day. You gotta figure that track officials either know or they don't, whether they can get the track ready to race again. Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, and then ultimately calling it at 11 p.m., was bullshit. Make a decision and stick with it.

Anyway, we had a good time walking around for a couple hours. Always fun to sneak in to a major sporting event for free.

No copping a feel, though. Sorry, SC!

I can hook up with cowboys whenever I want (maybe not a bull rider, but they're everywhere here), but a NASCAR guy . . . so rare in these parts. . .
