I'm not sure how to answer your questions. They don't just cancel the race because there are clouds in the sky. But, yes, there are boneheads in charge of NASCAR.

There's only three open weekends on the calendar and I think it would take a disaster worse than rain for nascar to move anything into those slots.

OK, but you know you have a wet track. You know it has rained all weekend, and the forecast and any one who looks up can tell you it's going to rain again. The time between 1 and 3 was the nicest weather they had all day, and they weren't ready to run, obviously. Why not scrap it?

All the teams and all of their gear is already in SoCal. There would be a LOT of pissed-off people if they had to lug all of that equipment back to Charlotte and then back out to Fontana, giving up a rare off weekend in the process - not to mention the fans that come in from other parts of the country. OK, both of them (for this weekend anyway).

They'll race until they can't. And then they'll run again when they can. Didn't they run one race on a Tuesday last year?

No way, Moddy. But we are in the final 100 laps. If that counts for anything.

You can definitely put some of this on Fontana officials for failing to maintain their facility --- those seams can be taken care of and should have been taken care of months ago. I don't know anybody who buys Gillian Zucker's claim that you can't put variable banking on a 2-mile track because the engineering is different. Those are key issues affecting both the safety and competition on the track. It's almost as silly as Rob Braig claiming that Daytona doesn't need to be repaved because Goodyear says their tires aren't showing any unusual problems there.

And you have to wonder what happened to the Fontana FanFest ... presumably that cancellation wasn't a NASCAR decision, but it was a standout chance to promote the track.

And you misinterpreted something I said. Have you forgotten that the corporate structures of ISC and NASCAR overlap? Have you forgotten that a France family birthday party can do triple-duty as a board of directors meeting for both NASCAR and ISC? Any NASCAR failing at or regarding an ISC track is, by extension, a failure by both companies --- no matter who is "making" the decision.

The big-budget teams have haulers specifically for their testing operations ... in most cases, those haulers already brought the Vegas equipment out to Fontana. After this race, they'll switch in the Vegas equipment and the test-team haulers will take the used stuff back to Mooresville while the replenished primary haulers will head on to Vegas,

Small-budget teams in both Cup and Nationwide series just have to hope they don't tear up their stuff too badly today. Not as much an issue for Robby Gordon, who still lives in California and has a good-sized shop there as home base for his Dakar and off-road racing operations.

Last night, I wouldn't have been able to watch the race while on desk. Today I have off, so I was able to watch it while getting my lube, oil and filter and now at home. I'm glad NASCAR came to its senses.

Re: race, I Edwards making a charge. Not liking that.

At some point, he's not going to fully rotate. His foot will slip or something. And then, the race won't matter quite as much.
