My money would've been on Humpy in two rounds. Never was much of a Tim Richmond fan.

From the aforementioned book (for which, I will add, the publisher owes me a significant amount of back royalties that I most likely will never see -- not that I am bitter):
Wheeler chuckles about what transpired today. But in 1983, he wasn't laughing.
"It was serious," he said. "Tim wanted a new car and what were giving him was one of the pace cars we'd driven around town to various places promoting the race. That was the car we were giving him."
Wheeler, who grew up boxing in amateur competition and continued to box while he was in college at South Carolina, was in no mood to hear Richmond's complaints. And Richmond was of no mind to back down. There was what some witnesses described as a brief "shoving match" with Wheeler doing most of the shoving before he left the garage. As you can imagine, the incident caused a stir.
"The next day Tim comes into the truck and says, 'Brewer, you've got to get me some of that money,'" (crew chief Tim) Brewer said. "I said, 'For what?' He said, 'For winning the pole.' He started complaining about the car and I said, 'Hey, Humpy's the one who gave you that car. You wanted it it and that's what you've got. We've already spent the money.'"
Richmond and Wheeler went into Wheeler's office for a "meeting" that lasted nearly an hour. Nobody really knew what to expect when the two hotheads emerged, but they managed to surprise everybody.
"The next thing I know here come Humpy and Tim walking through the garage area and they start pretending like they're wrestling with each other," Brewer said. "A crowd gathers around them and they've got ketchup all over themselves like they've been bleeding and they're carrying boxing gloves around their necks. That was Humpy just putting on a big show, and Tim was right in there with him."

This is one of the reasons I love this place. Ask a sports-related question about a specific sports writer's book, and in a mere number of hours, you have the answer from the man themselves. Doesn't get much better than that for a young journalist.

Scott Riggs and Johnny Sauter have cars impounded. Not coincidentally, both drivers work for Haas CNC Racing.

I love a pit fight ... even if it is N-Wide Series.

Hamlin: "You throw a rock, I'm gonna throw a concrete block back."

Stay classy, Denny. BTW, Hamlin, it's the Nationwide Series...no Cup experience required. Douche.

Denny Hamlin is turning into a pissy little bitch.

Aside from your valid point of it being a Nationwide race, Hamlin's line wasn't even that good.

If you throw a rock, I throw a concrete block? Sounds like something a nerd would say before getting pummeled in everyday life.

Hey Denny, the jerk store called, it wants its concrete block back.

That's still better than Kyle Busch, who at one point came on the radio and said something like, "OK Hendrick bitches, grab your tampons."

Yikes ... even the cheap books of insults can offer a better comeback than that. I think ...

I would like to volunteer to teach the young Mr. Busch the proper way to insult people. You can't be Darth Vader if that's the best you've got.
