He won eight times. I'm sure there are others who have driven as long or longer without that many.
Not saying he's good, mind you. I just don't see him as the epitome of suck.

When you say "worst professional sportsman" it conjures up a whole different context to me.
I think sportsman, i think playing fair, giving back and doing things the right way. In that aspect, no. He is not the worst professional sportsman.
Do you mean someone whose performance didn't live up to the bloodlines and hype? No. Petey Rose and Billy Ripken are two that immediately come to mind.

Well, I was going to say "worst professional athlete" but figured that would start a world-class threadjack.

No. Eight career wins, $30M in career earnings.

In racing alone: Kenny Wallace, John Andretti, Jeff Andretti, A.J. Foyt IV. Throw in other sports and the first name that comes to mind is Pete Rose Jr., who I think takes the cake in this category overall.

At least Kyle can make fun of himself...as he was driving the pace car before the race, he said that "this is about the first time in about 20 years that I've led the field around a track."

Gotta say I laughed pretty hard at that one.

I'm trying to figure out what was so "wide-open" about TNT's coverage. I hit my fast-forward button just as often as regular broadcasts to get through the "90-second local breaks" and the picture-in-picture commercials. Using the bottom part of the screen for constant information was stupid when some of the information was "most Cup races won" and other random crap that added nothing to the race.

As for the race, I thought it was decent but I also would have bet a week's pay that it would go g-w-c. Isn't that mandatory for plate races?

Now I gotta go get my free Coke Zero...is that stuff any good? Never had it.

Commericals for it are pretty funny too, I have to admit.

I pretty much live on Coke Zero and Cherry Coke Zero now. Outback has a promotion recently, with giveaway glasses, and we got about 30 of them.

    So, just wondering ....

You take a team like Hall Of Fame Racing or Haas-CNC. They buy all their equipment --- engines, chassis, and so on --- from frontline operations (Gibbs and Hendrick, respectively) but no matter who they put in the drivers' seats, they can't get to the front on a weekly basis.

Furniture Row buys Hendrick equipment just like Haas-CNC does but is able to do a lot more with it. Why aren't these teams cleaning house back at the shop? More importantly, why can't the team principals see where the problem might be?

People seemingly get stupid in the last 20 laps of EVERY NASCAR race.

At some point, you have to forget questioning individual drivers and start admonishing the entire field, because at some point, nearly every driver has been at fault in these stupid late-race melees. Some are more prone than others, but still.

Hall of Fame DID clean house. They fired last year's driver, crew chief and competition director. All it did was make them worse.
