nascar.com is not affiliated with NASCAR. It's a Turner property.

The official NASCAR site is www.nascarmedia.com.

... he said after the post prior to his shows that JJ would still be leading the points under the old system. :D ;D

If they're smart, they'll give that fourth seat to AJ Allmendinger. But they'll probably give it to Regan Smith.

Wow. Gonna take a long time to get used to that name. Wonder if there was any battle between Teresa and Chip as to whose went first.

Official release from the team(s) says it's "Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates".

    Now that's catchy.

Not as catchy as "Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates at the Back of the Pack, Several Laps Down."

NASCAR bans testing at all of its sanctioned tracks, including the "preseason thunder" testing sessions at Daytona and Las Vegas. Teams will not be permitted to test at any track that hosts a Cup, Buschwide or truck series event.

Should save them an assload of money. Still looking for details.

Speaking of money, Jayski has an unsourced report that Bill Davis Racing laid off most of the shop and engine personnel for the 22 Cup team this week.

EDIT-1stADD: The ban is more extensive than I first realized. It also covers all the tracks where the Camping World East and West series run. I'm not clear on whether it covers tracks that are part of the modified series or the NASCAR All American regional racing series. If it does, I can only think of a couple places where teams could test.

It covers every NASCAR-sanctioned track in America.

Every track that runs a weekly series? I guess this means that Hendrick will build a private track on its property.

That leaves quite a few tracks out, although probably not in the Carolinas. Joe Gibbs Racing regularly tests at a 1/2-mile track outside Daytona Beach; none of the Florida short tracks are NASCAR-sanctioned anymore, although the one in Lakeland that used to host 2,349,852,985,489 Hooters Pro Cup events per year has been demolished and will be the home of an industrial park. For road-course testing, Virginia International, Roebling Road Raceway and Road Atlanta are just a couple hours from Mooresville. Roebling Road's not all that challenging, though; if you remember the Fuji track from the Pole Position video games ... Roebling Road is like that. Most of the teams test road-course cars at VIR near Danville.

    It's that day ...

As much as I'd love to see Carl win this thing, it'll be a pretty sweet moment in the new days of NASCAR to see JJ win his third in a row.
