Sodbuster Kenny Jay better still be on the AWA Classics. Thumbs up!

Nah. Some of the older episodes have had Jake 'The Milkman' Milliman on them, though.

I'd say the most recognizable jobber on this current run of episodes has been Dennis Stamp.

No Tom "Rocky" Stone (WWF and AWA jobber)?

Who is with Sheik Adnan El-Kaissey this week? Blackwell and Patera? If they weren't with Heenan, the top bad guys were always with the Sheik.

You are referring to Barry Horowitz, who was one of my favorite jobbers, and I believe he is still active on the independent scene after all these years.

I'd say jobbers really went out of style in the mid-90s when the WWF and WCW started their ratings war. Why show a squash match when you can show a match with two name wrestlers?

Unfortunately they're running the shows from the tail end of the AWA...the Sheik, Fatwell and Patera are long-gone.

The big names here are Badd Company, Wahoo McDaniel, Manny Fernandez, Curt Hennig (and Medusa), The Top Guns, Soldad Ustinov and Tijoe Khan.

Are they still showing the ones featuring a HUGE Scott Hall and the Midnight Rockers?

Nope. I think they've since moved on to the WWF.

These were all recorded in mid-late 1988, which was right around the tail end (unfortunately) of the AWA.

I'll be curious to see if they go back to earlier episodes once they run out of these.

Part of the issue with jobbers nowadays is that back then, it was possible to put someone with upside out there as a jobber in a territory so they can develop and move to other territories, where they wouldn't be jobbed out. Without a territory system in the traditional sense, that's out.

Now the jobber is usually someone on their way out, a Super Crazy or Hacksaw Jim Duggan or Charlie Haas, as opposed to someone trying to move up.

Kudos to Duggan for even lacing up the boots anymore.

That guy was as over as could be back in the mid-80s during his run with Bill Watts' Mid-South, and then in the WWF.

Although I do still hate the 'HOOOOOOOOOOO!'

I always preferred The HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Train.
