2008 Running Pro Wrestling Thread

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by HandsomeHarley, Jan 11, 2008.

  1. Seriously?

I just don't see it, aside from the brain trust trying its damnedest to make him the photo-negative of The Rock.

Kennedy's not that good a wrestler, or at least he hasn't really impressed me yet aside from some solid matches with Michaels. And nobody has bad matches with Michaels.

And what's his character exactly? A guy that screams his name really loud? There's no depth there, no edge. He's just... there for me.

i love foley, but absolutely cannot stand him as an announcer. or maybe my hatred is geared more towards michael cole. either way, that tandem aint working for me.

He's a pretty good talker outside of KENNEDY, and I think the feud with Regal would have shown that off. He's obviously good at putting thoughts together, if you'll recall the post-Benoit rant on his website.

He needed a new finisher, and I like its name, but the Mic Check is just another example of guys trying to come up with some variation of a DDT/powerbomb/Stunner/chokeslam/whatever that it's hard to tell who's the one taking the damage. It's too convoluted. You need a good, decisive finisher that nobody's using? Two words: slingshot jackhammer.

It took a while for Rock and Austin and Cena to find traction. Maybe Kennedy won't, but I'm thinking one strong feud should do it.

Kennedy's gimmick is fair. It's a hell of a lot better than those kids they brought in and turned into the "Spirit Squad." Now neither of them have a job in WWE and they were decent wrestlers if they were actually pushed a bit. Kennedy has great microphone skills and plays well with the crowd and if he does that, that'll make management happy. Why try to exploit some completely outlandish gimmick that makes no sense when Kennedy by himself is making a pretty good name for himself. They need to push him with a title, though. Give him a IC or U.S. Title push and he'll rise through the ranks.

Kennedy has had some fantastic matches with Jeff Hardy. He was really, really bad in the ring when he first started out. He's definitely improved, which is nice to see. And his mic-skills have always been impressive. He should be in the main event before the end of the year...I hope.

Hopefully he [Kennedy] is in some main event matches soon. I was reading some statistic and since the two heavyweight championship belts (WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion) were created in September, 2002, Triple H, Cena and Orton have headlined the RAW Championship match in every PPV but two. Triple H won't be around much longer and Cena and Orton have feuded way too long for fans to stay interested.

    That is a fantastic finisher.

But I'll take the Burning Hammer.

Kennedy is NOT like RVD. No way.

Kennedy wants to be the next Austin (w/his attitude) but that's about it.

I read that too. Trips, Orton, and Cena have fought for the Raw title on every PPV except two since late 2002 when there was a second world championship added. On the two PPV's they didn't fight for the strap (Bad Blood 2004 featuring Kane vs. Chris Benoit and Vengence 2006 featuring Edge vs. RVD), Triple H headlined the show's main event. At Bad Blood 2004, Triple H wrestled HBK for nearly an hour in Hell in the Cell and Vengence 2006 saw DX reunite in the ring to take on the Spirit Squad.

Scary stat. WWE needs some new main eventers and quick.

Smackdown has the same issue: it's always some combination of Edge, 'Taker and Batista in the main event. The draft will change dance partners, but they should figure out a way to get MVP and at least one Hardy in the mix. At least they're giving Cade a chance, albeit an abrupt one.

I like where they're going with this Kozlov guy.
