But how do they do it to make it legitimate? I was thinking that they have DiBiase come down after Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes are introduced, then for Rhodes and DiBiase to quickly attack Holly and have Rhodes pin him. I don't think that's legitimate enough, though, because Holly would have no partner (though stranger things have happened - and they can make it happen, anyway). That way the beginnings of the "Next Generation" stable are set.

If it was earlier this week, I would have guaranteed that D.H. Smith would be the mystery partner, he'd come down, they'd fight and Holly would be pinned. Then Holly would get up, walk away, Rhodes would jump him, and the three would unite and form that stable.

They can't do that now, though, with Smith just getting drafted to SmackDown, making me believe that something completely nonsensical is up. They just better do it right, though, because they need to get both of these men going as monster heels.

An interesting idea that has been thrown around is to get the newly drafted Deuce to come out, throw off his greaser gear, and debut as Jimmy Snuka Jr. Eventually, Rhodes would turn on Holly, join the duo, and start to create that second generation stable that has been rumored for months.

Eh. Isn't Snuka Jr. (who is not blood-related, by the way) like 40 years old himself? Sure, it's a second-generation thing, but that's kind of a stretch, in my mind. I don't think that they could legitimately pull it off with him joining the group unless he was held off TV for a month or so, grew the wild hair and then returned with some resemblance of the Superfly.

EDIT: Just looked it up. He's 37.

That would be a serious-assed stretch, even for WWE standards.

As intriguing as the thought of this faction is, the downside is how long will it be before WWE pulls the plug on it in favor of some McMahon family angle? As good as Evolution was, if memory serves me right, it didn't last too long. Does it have to a group of second-gen wrestlers? Why not let another talented youngster get a push through this.

hahaha. . .my god, DiBiase's new theme is priceless.

Cody turned on Holly as some predicted. Good move.

Triple H beats Cena to retain, meaning both world titles are on Smackdown... and Kofi Kingston is the top champion on Raw.

CM Punk should have cashed in and brought a title to Raw.

I did not enjoy this PPV at all. Mark Henry is ECW Champ? Would this have happened if Michael Hayes didn't throw a slur his way? Absolutely not. Edge is actually getting stale, which is pretty shocking. . .Vickie Guerrero is getting X-Pac heat. Is Kofi Kingston ready for such a big push?

I did like Cody Rhodes turning and Miz/Morrison retaining, but that's about it.

I hope Punk shows up on Smackdown and cashes in MITB briefcase to win a world title to take back to Raw, but I sense that he'll put it up against Cena or Batista and they'll win it from him and then take on Edge at the next PPV.

In some ways, it seems like they're going in the right direction with a couple things...as dormant as the IC and tag team belts have seemed to be for the past few months, maybe having them as the only titles on RAW for a short time isn't a bad idea.

They're also putting the straps on some fresh faces to see what they've got...should be interesting to watch.

Meltzer wasn't so hot on flipping the title to Kofi, I think, but he was starting to get fans into him in ECW, and he's got an interesting moveset and presence. I have higher hopes for him than flukey Santino, even though he could be the best manager of this generation.

Wonder if they'll trade HHH back to Raw like the last time he was drafted by Smackdown?

How about trading Edge to Raw so Batista and Cena and the champ have a 3-way dance at the next PPV? I can see it happening if Edge and Vicki split and she punishes him this way.

This time around, I don't think HHH will move -- at least not in the very near future. He sounds pretty serious about spending time with Steph and his kids, and the SD schedule works perfectly for that. The coming move to a new network for the show is also another reason why they moved him over there. He'll eventually get back to Raw, just not before (I would guess) sometime next year.

The Raw landscape does set up as pretty intriguing, although you have to wonder what the hell Jericho must be feeling after losing the IC belt to a rookie. Needless to say, this isn't quite working out the way everyone envisioned when he was supposed to "Save Us." I do hope that they will push the tag teams more seriously.
