Agree totally, the Raiders are a fraud and will be beat soon enough. Likely when Texas comes calling.

Dont know that they're a fraud... but do agree that moving up three after an OT win against a Nebraska team that got its collective dick knocked in last week is a little high

At this point, a win's a win to me.

And when they lose, they'll be dropped accordingly.

A quick insight on my ballot -- 1. Alabama, 2. Texas, 3. Penn State, 4. Oklahoma State, 5. Texas Tech.

Top five gets sem-shook up. I know Texas Tech is too high, but Tech stays high until they lose, and there will plenty more opportunities. I thought about jumping Texas and Penn State to the top spot but I'll give the slight edge to Bama right now. Texas has the worst schedule of the three.

Added to the top 25 -- North Carolina at 22, Michigan State at 23, Kansas at 24
Dropped from top 25 -- Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Auburn

Other Notes: I dropped Oklahoma from 2 to 8 as my top 1-loss team, followed by Georgia, Mizzou, Florida, Southern Cal and LSU. Bumped Ball St. up two spots to 15. Dropped Northwestern from 16 to 25.

Hey! How 'bout those Auburn Tigers. WAR EAGLE!

Edit: I missed it, since I was driving back from covering the unending misery that is my beat, and had very important work to do when I returned (cough: watch the F1 race), but did national power Missouri lose? At home? To Oklahoma State?

    How are such things possible?

    OCT. 12
1, texas (rarely jump teams ... but, really impressed with how the longhorns showed big cojones and beat okie when i thought they might lose by 2-3 touchdowns)
2, penn state (the lions had an equally impressive win at wiscy ... 48-7!)
3, alabama (Texas-Alabama title game would be kinda cool for old-school sake)

    1. Texas (LW: 6)
    2. Alabama (4)
    3. Penn State (7)
    4. Texas Tech (5)
    5. Oklahoma State (15)
    6. Georgia (8)
    7. Florida (10)
    8. USC (9)
    9. BYU (11)
    10. Missouri (3)
    11. Oklahoma (1)
    12. Ohio State (12)
    13. Utah (14)
    14. LSU (2)
    15. Michigan State (17)
    16. Boise State (16)
    17. Kansas (18)
    18. Ball State (19)
    19. Virginia Tech (20)
    20. Tulsa (21)
    21. California (22)
    22. North Carolina (24)
    23. Wake Forest (NR)
    24. Minnesota (NR)
    25. Cincinnati (23)

    OUT: Vanderbilt (13), Kentucky (25)
IN: Wake Forest, Minnesota (Both by default...I spent a good 45 minutes trying to come up with No. 23 and 24.)

    LURKING:
Western Michigan (two more victories and the MAC gets two in the top 25)
Oregon (My poll just isn't ready for a two-loss team)
TCU (Beat BYU and you're in, fuckers)
UConn (The next two weeks -- against VaTech and UNC -- will decide)
Vandy (I think you're done next week against UGA)

Texas wasn't going to be No. 1 until LSU and Mizzou lost. Since Oklahoma was my No. 1, I had to put Texas there. That said, I dropped Oklahoma a good way, even though its loss is to my new No. 1, because my poll is based on past performance, along with future. I think losing Reynolds might even be a bigger loss than losing Bradford. We'll see.

I said before the season Penn St. wasn't very good, but it's been beating the absolute shit outta teams...even though I also said Wisconsin is, and always will be, a fraud of the highest order. The Badgers are the Bob Huggins-coached Cincy basketball teams.

Georgia is my top-ranked one-loss program because its loss was to, arguably, the best team in regards to the other one-loss teams' losses. Florida leap-frogged USC because it beat the piss outta what I thought was a good LSU team. Other than its one-point loss, the Gators are not giving the common courtesy of a reach-around. They're fucking everyone without using any lubricant.

    Fire away, pussies.

I've been saying this all along, and I'm not trying to influence ballots, but ...

I'm the biggest Alabama fanboi here, but Alabama is NOT a top five team. The offense is inconsistent and ebbs and flows with JPW's decision-making skills. The secondary is weak, and both lines are one blown knee from paper bag terrible.

If they beat LSU, who's still a good team despite the drubbing they took last night, then we'll talk.

Until then USC and Florida are the best teams in the country.
