No argument. But even so, it is Sparty.
Usually, the meltdown comes after Notre Dame.

both skeds aren't exactly top-shelf, so let's throw that argument out the window (even though mizzzou struggled to beat buffalo at home).

head to head. okie state wins at mizzou. if that isn't the number one tie-breaker, what is?

we have to stop saying, "if this plays out ..." yadda yadda.

right now they have the same record, and osu won at columbia. what more do you want?

Actually, I believe OSU is still undefeated.

Can't throw that out the window. Missouri's schedule so far is significantly better. They beat a then-ranked Illinois team at home and they crushed Nebraska (a so-so team) in Lincoln. Those wins are far better than anything Oklahoma State has done ... except of course for the win in Columbia.

I don't think the head-to-head win means the Cowboys have done more this year than Missouri. They haven't. They might yet, and if they do, the head-to-head will give them an edge if it comes down to that.

But right now, you can't use it as a tiebreaker. They've done less this year than Missouri, at least in my opinion.

    an opinion i respect.

illinois is pedestrian this season, and the illini couldn't even beat minnesota at home (hi, zeke).

illinois was only ranked cuz it won at michigan, but that's only tantamount to okie state winning by 4 touchdowns at wazzu.

plus, nebraska still is not that good.

it's fun to argue this. let's put our arguments in the darkroom and see what develops.

    I'll agree with that.

Another way to look at it. Mizzou was 20 spots ahead of Oklahoma State (or whatever it was). OSU's win is good enough to move them up, say eight spots and Mizzou's loss dropped them eight.
That still leaves four spots between the two.

Alabama's sort of the same way.
Bammers can bitch that they should be No. 1, but No. 2 from unranked is a helluva leap. Texas was higher in the poll and beat a No. 1 team....
