Point is though that the Pac 10 is just tough to figure out of conference. I wonder in how many of those games were they getting points?

Slappy, do you remember a game circa '84 or '85 when Long Beach State went to the Big House? For someone who lived in Long Beach and knew and respected the whole aura of Bo and Michigan, I couldn't believe it before the season when I read the 49ers would be playing in Ann Arbor; in baseball terms it would be like Modesto going to play at Yankee Stadium to face the '78 Bombers.

It was pretty much a "payoff" game since Long Beach needed the $300,000 or so. I listened on the radio, of course. Early in the game Michigan is driving and has 1st and goal at the 1. I figure the Wolverines would score on the next plow up the gut. Lo and behold, 4 plays later, Long Beach holds them on 4th and goal at the 1. I was so excited.

But, you know, Michigan won 49-0. Did you watch or listen to that game?

Actually, it was 1987 and it was my first year as the back-up guy on Michigan football for the paper I was at. Yeah, I was there. And for Wazzou the game before and for the Ohio State loss at the end in Earle Bruce's last game.

Michigan is 44-18 against the Pac-10, which is pretty surprising considering probably 70% of those games were played on the West Coast.

Here's a bit of trivia for you, which conference has the best record against Michigan? I'll give you a hint, it's not the SEC.

Where did you get the 44-18 number from?
