    Anyway . . . .

I don't post my poll often, only when there's significant movement at the top. And when I do, I offer a few sentences explaiing my thought process. Then PaperDragon (or someone else) comes along and says "WHAT?!?!? How could you put (X team, usually not an SEC one) that HIGH?!?!?!?!!?!?"

Everyone does these things differently, with our own thought process, and all regions represented. None should claim to be better than another.

You have a thought on our polls, Paper Dragon? Fine. Can we see yours? Yes, I know it's not part of the "official" voting . . . but I am interested in seeing exactly where you think the teams stack up. If you're going to question our selection process, obviously you have some deep thoughts. Go ahead and add your poll to the discussion, if not the record (yet).

I thought about this during a several-hour drive today.

Texas Tech should be No. 1, and it is in my poll this week. The Red Raiders' win Saturday is more impressive than anything Alabama has done this season. Bama has beaten a lot of "name" teams (Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, etc..) that are either decent, bad or horrendously bad.

Texas Tech will probably lose more games than Alabama by the end of the season, and Bama's defense is stellar (even without Cody, and he'll be back soon), but Texas Tech's past two weeks have been truly remarkable, and it should be rewarded.

Also, I think the three teams I said before the season were better than the rest — Southern Cal, Florida and Oklahoma — will be recognized at season's end as the three best teams.

    Zee-eeng!

I didn't say USC is the best team on talent alone. I just think USC is the best team who walked into Corvalis against a Beavers team absolutely amped to hump the shit out of the Trojans, which the Beavers did for 30 minutes. USC didn't quite recover. Shit happens, just like, and yes I'll say it again, Florida losing at home against Ole Miss. Just like Oklahoma giving up fifty-whatever to Texas. Just like Texas choking in the final minute against Texas Tech.

I don't believe USC is my No. 1 team. No. 2, either. Not even No. 3.

And sure I'm a Rainbow Warrior ... Jeff Gordon kicks ass, sweet pea :D

And if that happened, this thread would be like word association -- just as long and as plodding.
The decision not to post picks is my call alone; always open for people to post their individuals, but I've chosen not to post the group -- except for the last one of the regular season and the bowl pick, when I'll post a pdf of the excel sheet.
Was probably more needed last year as we felt our way through this -- and there were some really damn dumb picks.

I didn't join because I was worried I wouldn't have the time to give it the thought it deserved (evidently that didn't bother everyone). I was especially worried about slots 11-25. I don't watch enough football outside of my region and the national games to know where everyone stands.

But the Top 10 is relatively easy. I will say I really don't have a problem with this week's BCS results or most of the few polls that have been posted here. I can go either way with a lot of picks. It really helps that I'm not vying for a team in the Top 10.

But I'm not here to cause trouble. I think it's interesting to see why people vote the way they do. I just question the purpose of having this thread if you're not going to encourage debate. I think asking the few questions I have really pokes some holes into some of the arguments. And some of these arguments really need poking.

Yea, everyone beats EMU. Nothing to get too excited about there.

I could probably think of a couple Michigan high schools that could give EMU a pretty good game.

Let me put it another way: this is like fanboys who say "Your team SUCKS!!!!" so the obvious answer is, OK, bozo, who is YOUR team? And often the answer is either whoever happens to be the best team that week, or "I don't have a team! But your team SUCKS!!!!!!!!!"

Debate happens when people put all their cards on the table. "Here's what I think; what are your thoughts?"

Being "the drunk who snipes at everyone else from the end of the bar" is what you're doing. You don't care about why people vote the way they do; you want to ask people "WHY the HELL did you vote that WAY?!?!??!?!!?!?!?!" without putting yourself out there.
