I dropped Tech to seventh one week because of Leach call a timeout with a few seconds to go and Tech up by two scores just so some backup could get a TD. That was the only time I've punished Tech.

    KY, I don't think that's a punishable offense.

I just dropped them one spot, xan. No further than that, but I just didn't like the fact Leach tried to pull that stunt.

There may have been a sentimental reason to let that player score. May have been a senior who never scored or something like that. Or maybe a walk-on who isn't on scholarship. Oh well.

Sorry to anyone who was offended by my lack of class last night. I'll do anything to stay in this poll, even f...well, I should just stop.

And, Dickens was correct. I thought my sarcasm was dripping enough regarding the "no vote, no talk" ... especially since I was the first one (I believe) to disagree with whoever brought that up.

    GO EMU!!!!!!

    Xan:
This was the week I dropped the Red Raiders from fifth to sixth in my poll. I jumped USC up to No. 5 that week after the Trojans trounced Wazzou. Tech jumped back up the next week after USC struggled with Arizona.

If a team excells at offense, they can run their score up into the stratosphere. But no matter how great a defense you have, you can't hold the other team below zero points.

I didn't know the specifics. No biggie. We all jump and drop teams based on what we feel is important.

Have a feeling this will be a strange weekend of wins and losses.

That big Bama win over UGA ... the game the Tide's reputation is pretty much based on ... is looking smaller and smaller all the time.

They might say the same thing about Penn State's win over Illinois, which lost to Western Michigan, although Iowa could take care of that with a win.

Except Illinois is hardlyn Penn State's landmark win this season, that would be Ohio State.
