This all sounds very familiar for some reason ... oh, yeah.

Wait, I see Central Michigan got one vote in our poll.

After losing to 2-10 Eastern Michigan, which put 50-some points on them.

I agree totally, but I think that people don't do this for some reason, which for the life of me I can't understand.

Well, for one, because it's an impossible, almost always hypothetical standard to base your vote on, at least in my opinion.

I vote based on 1) record, 2) strength of schedule, 3) good/bad losses, 4) good/bad wins, 5) perceived dominance/hypothetical matchups (since everyone doesn't play everyone else, so you can't base everything on what happened on the field.)

Seriously, what more can Alabama do to get your No. 1 vote? They've won every game they've played. No other major-conference team can say the same.

If we're going to base our No. 1 team on hypotheticals, why not just determine the best team in the preseason and forgo these silly games? Alabama has the strongest case thus far. Florida can change that Saturday.

They can play a tough team and beat them, which they can do on Saturday. If they beat Florida and Oklahoma doesn't dominate Mizzou, then Alabama may be my No. 1 next week.
As it stands, Oklahoma is the most impressive team I have watched all year.

It's not like Alabama has been beating San Jose State, Nevada and Louisiana Tech.

Even if the SEC is down this season, it is still an accomplishment to be undefeated in a major conference.

Then the same could be said of Oklahoma, but some of the OU-Texas whining I have heard is that Oklahoma played Washington and the Huskies suck.

As for Alabama, I just don't think they are world beaters, they had to take LSU to overtime to win, and the Tigers are not the team to beat in the SEC this year. They beat Georgia, which at the time looked like an awesome win, now it just looks like it was a win they should have had.
I mean, what other team in the top 25 right now have the Tide beat?

NONE!!! The teams they have beat have either always been phony or have since proven to be phony (see also Clemson).
The sad thing is, with the Georgia win the Tide's best win is against Ole Miss at home, 24-20. The same Ole Miss team that people are ragging on Florida for losing to.

I think the whole system sucks, but at least in the SEC there is some semblance of a playoff.... This year at least.

Convincingly beat somebody who doesn't suck. Hell, if they could even convincingly beat somebody in the Next 25 I might be impressed.

Sagarin rates Alabama's strength of schedule rating 73rd, just below Utah. Very impressive.
