    PD --

There are a bunch of one-loss teams.

There is no definitive argument for any of them. Thus there is no dispositive argument for any of them.

USC wasn't my No. 1, but there's no way you can say that NO ONE might think they're the best team.

Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, USC, Penn State, hell Utah?

You can make an argument for any of them, if you want to.

So stop trying to act like you can't. It's not an argument you agree with. Cool.

He's got a vote, he posted on here why he voted the way he did. Also cool.

Apparently, I need to clarify a thing or two for PaperDragon before moving on.

    1. I never said you were scared. Just noted that you have time to be a jerk and throw stones at other people's picks, but say you do NOT have time to produce an actual opinion besides "YOU suck and are WRONG!!!!!"

    2. I never, ever said, nor implied you couldn't get laid. I expressed admiration for your great knowledge (that you see fit to share with us peasants), and noted that such a man would have little trouble persuading members of the opposite sex to share carnal knowledge.

    3. You're not a troll for disagreeing. You're a troll for being an a-hole about it.

    4. USC has earned my No. 1 spot because I graduated from there, like a good fanboy. I'm actually from a BIG Pac-10 family. Love those Trojans/Beavers/Ducks/Bruins/Cardinal/Golden Bears/Sun Devils/Wildcats/Huskies/Cougars!!!!

I once was photographed kissing the Tommy Trojan statue. Man, I love USC.

    They're AWESOME!!!!!!!

    And cool, yes.

Funny that you didn't drop the other previously undefeated team nearly as much for its loss...

    I'll make 2 moderations ...

This isn't simple. There are 6 teams head and shoulders above everyone else (Texas, Okie, Florida, USC, Alabama and Utah) while Penn State and Boise State are nipping right at their heels and damn well may be included in the conversation. Who's the best and why? We've gone over every bloody argument ad nauseum.

As much as I think USC is tremendous because of its defense yet skiddish at times on offense, and as much as Florida owns a weakened SEC yet beat an undefeated conference team ranked No. 1, and for as many points as Oklahoma scores yet allows, and the fact Alabama really is as good as advertised but just couldn't close the deal ...

One team in one game (against the No. 1 team) proved itself to to me. And I really don't like its coach. Even in its only defeat, this team rallied and took the lead late in the game and was 65 or seconds from winning, only to be upstaged in the final seconds.

The team I think is No. 1, pound for pound is ...

    1, Texas
    2, Oklahoma
    3, Florida
    4, USC
    5, Alabama
    6, Utah
    7, Boise State
    8, Penn State
    9, Ohio State
    10, Texas Tech
    11, Texas Christian
    12, Oregon
    13, Virginia Tech
    14, Georgia Tech
    15, Cincinnati
    16, Oklahoma State
    17, Ole Miss
    18, Iowa
    19, Brigham Young
    20, Pittsburgh
    21, Georgia
    22, Oregon State
    23, Boston College
    24, Rutgers
25, Buffalo. Yes, Buffalo. For 5 years I've watched them rise to this unlikely position: MAC champs.

    My poll:
1-5: Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, USC. The Longhorns came seconds away from going unbeaten in the toughest stretch anyone played this year in the toughest conference in the country. The fact they are ranked behind Oklahoma, after beating the Sooners on a neutral field, is a joke. Then again, so is this system.
6-10: Penn State, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Utah, Boise State. Said it several times: with an established Prior and a healthy Wells, which is what they have now, the Buckeyes do not lose to anyone ranked below them.
11-15: TCU, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, Mississippi, Oregon.
16-20: Georgia Tech, Georgia, Oregon State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh. A ton of crap in this Top 25.
21-25: BYU, Northwestern, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Ball State. Yes, Rutgers, winners of six in a row, including one by 20 at Pittsburgh. Last loss, by 3 at Cincy.
