So you're saying the Crimson Bearphants should be ranked higher?

Alabama at No. 3 is supposed to be "inspiring?"

Kentucky at No. 17 is supposed to be "inspiring?"

I'd love to know where you had those two teams ranked in your preseason poll.

There were two different AP voters that had the Tide at No. 2, and another at No. 3.

My preseason poll is my poll to end the previous season. As I have stated, I don't go with preconceived notions. If you want to have the best 25 teams, they will show themselves. I don't think it's right to give Arizona State a free pass for what they did. Or not reward East Carolina for what they did. It doesn't make any sense when a team that beats a preseason top 20 yet can't crack the top 25 the next week. So suddenly that preseason top 20 team wasn't as good as everybody thought. But if Virginia Tech holds on and wins that game, they probably move up one or two spots.

The guy from Savannah who caught shit from Bammers for not ranking them in the first poll, put them at 2.
The other 2-3 came from West Coast voters.
The instate guys had them 10 and 14. Guy who runs the SportsJournalists.com poll had them 16.

I'll give Bama's offense its props, even though it kills me to pay any kind of complement to John Parker Wilson. Still not sure how much of the rest was an inept Clemson offense or a good Bama defense.

I didn't even have East Carolina in my top 50 teams to start the season. And the only reason VA Tech and Clemson didn't fall out of my poll yet is because I don't believe the teams behind them (Utah, ECU, Kentucky, etc.) are better than them.

Kentucky IS NOT the 17th-best team in the nation right now, nor will it be this season. And seeing as I didn't see your final poll last year, what did you have Kentucky ranked?

If you didn't have them ranked, how can you justify them going from being an unranked team going through a rebuilding season?

I didn't rank Kentucky to end last season, but that is irrelevent to this year. As part of the poll, it is required to produce a preseason poll. And Kentucky may not be the 17th best team this season. But I'll give them credit for a 27-2 victory on the road over a BCS conference opponent after the first week of the season. Next week will probably be a different story, since they play Norfolk State. But again, my top 25 is what people have done up to that point and that's what I vote on.

Wait, ECU isn't better than Virginia Tech? Even though ECU just beat the Hokies?

In a rare fit of common sense, someone finally noticed that John Pontiac Wilson can't throw the deep ball for shit. Ergo, give him a lot of safe underneath routes and TE drag plays to work with. It also helps that Glen Coffee - when not injuring major muscle groups or making extra money in ways that makes the NCAA cry - will run your ass over, and now has a freshman understudy inclined to do likewise. Plus, the OL appears to have shaken off the last of the Bucket Step Bob mentality.
