Slappy, I see your point. But they beat an overrated VA Tech team in Charlotte.

I'd be more inclined to put ECU in my top 25 had it won in Blacksburg.

First, we have a full season to determine who's overrated. The Hokies could still repeat as ACC champs.

Second, why does the venue make a difference in a game like that? That would be like penalizing Texas because it beat the Sooners in Dallas (in its home state) and not Norman. Bad example, I know, because those two always play in Dallas, but the point remains.

    So Clemson wasn't overrated?

And i just think the win would have been more impressive if it happened on the road.

I had Clemson No. 7 and they got pounded. Yeah, they were overrated.

I had VaTech No. 21 and they lost to East Carolina. They might be overrated, but there's a difference in the degree. One stunned me (Clemson), the other I thought had the potential to be upset (VaTech).

And again, neutral field doesn't mean anything to me in Week 1. Bottom line, you won or you lost.

You can debate whether East Carolina belongs in the top 25 (they were probably my first team out, in the interest of full disclosure) but there's no logical way you can argue Virginia Tech should be ranked ahead of East Carolina.

    Not this week.

As our friend Cowbell likes to say, it's "inarguable among the sane."

Especially since only one game has been played. Had it been mid-season and Virginia Tech was now 6-1 to ECU's 1-6, obviously there's a debate.
But again, if ECU wins (assuming they play) Saturday, they go in my top 10.

Exactly. They've each played one game, against one another, so the winning team HAS to be ranked higher than the losing team. Until there are more lines on the resume, there's no argument.
