OK. They are not making my top-25 now.

Gee, I guess Georgia and Florida should look for new coaches, and they will drop out of my top 10.

Who knew you could get so much mileage out of a tongue-in-cheek comment? The reference to recruiting chairman - a fictitious position - should have been a clue. I thought you were smarter/more reasonable than that.

To everyone else: where will Vanderbilt turn up?

Vandy right now is my Waterloo. As long as Penn State wins, my top eight are set. But my next undefeateds are Vandy, Oklahoma State and Utah. So I have no clue whether to jump them that high (I have them 15-20 range) or start stacking one-losers.

I am, once you explained it was tongue-in-cheek. I just couldn't resist the chance to be an ass about it one more time. Simple pleasures, I guess. Sorry.

I also remember too many people (not you) freaking after Michigan's (admittedly horrible) opening loss last year, dropping them from No. 4 to out of the poll completely. I try not to put too much stock in one game, which is why I'll just move people up this week with no leapfrogging, regardless of who they played this week. It's a LONG season, and a bunch of 19- and 20-year-olds cannot be trusted to sustain intensity and focus the entire way.

Nebraska just lost at home to VaTech. They were impressive enough to move them up after a loss?

Also, one thing cracked me up about the polls today. At work, I read an SI.com column that said the SEC would receive the benefit of the doubt from the media and USC would not. On the drive home, I heard someone on Sporting News Radio reverse it. And that, in a nutshell, sums up a lot about how the polls tend to be.

My ballot is done. Just have to wait until this afternoon to post it. Tried for about an hour at work before giving up and going home.

    My top 5:
    1. Oklahoma
    2. Bama
    3. Missouri
    4. LSU
    5. Texas

The Irish will be lucky to win two games the rest of the way.
