Wow. Just wow. A three-loss Tennesse team but not a two-loss Illinois? Florida State, Notre Dame and Michigan State? Oregon but no Boise?

I really don't believe in rubbing in my picks but TP wanted me to induldge so I had to take him up on the offer. I understand the give and take but Bama anywhere in the top 5 can be argued at each spot. They've got two big signature wins, which is, in some cases, two more than a lot of people still undefeated. And with a lot of top choices losing this weekend, the Tide are a very appealing alternative.

    1. Missouri
    2. Oklahoma
    3. LSU
    4. Alabama
    5. USC
    6. Georgia
    7. Texas
    8. Florida
    9. Ohio State
    10. Texas Tech

Briefly: I had Missouri No. 5 to start the season, and I don't leapfrog teams that did not lose. So they get the top spot since everyone above them lost. I refuse to believe that a single bad evening or afternoon is enough to drop USC, Florida and Georgia out of the top 10 (Ohio State too, for that matter), but I will also note that the two SEC powers lost at home while USC lost on the road at a venue that has become a House of Horrors for them. I think in the early parts of the season, the polls are much too reactionary. If you have a high belief in a team's talent, a single setback since a bunch of 19- and 20-year-olds couldn't stay focused shouldn't cause a precipitous drop.

Still think the Buckeyes are the best team in a weak Big Ten; Wiscaaaaaaansin had its chance to seize that mantle since the jury is still (barely) out on Penn State as far as I'm concerned, and Bucky Badger blew it.

Texas is probably better than I have them at this point, but their game against Oklahoma will shake that out. Still a lot of games to be played.

Oh, and I snuck the Irish in at No. 25.

At 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the SEC, I can strongly suggest to you that you might rethink Tennessee.

Tennessee at 24? Yikes. How 'bout Tennessee at 74?

I agree USC should be ranked above both Florida and Georgia. The fact that Budcrew has Georgia and Florida at 7 and 8 but USC at 11 kinda blows my mind.

But Texas really should be above all three until they lose.
