Every good player has a little nasty in him. Let's not make Ovi out to be Tie Domi or Sean Avery here.

I don't care how well he's played lately, I've never been a big Theodore guy. If Varlamov ever comes back, I think Joe-say is No. 3 or 3.

For as much as the Caps complained about when Ovechkin got hit in the first period with no call, Ovechkin made the same hit on Cookie with no call. The refs are being consistent, both ways. Just not sure why the Caps would mix it up after that Staal goal for no apparent reason.

I was hoping to split the two games against your rooting interests today. So as long as the Pens win this, I'm fine with the Terps beating up on the Heels.

Nice bit of sticktoitiveness by Fehr there.

Backstrom wasn't a game misconduct. It was just a 10 minute misconduct and a minor. But his penalty time would carry over to the third period, so he goes to the room.

As far as the officiating, I just tuned in around the third goal, but it's not surprising. NHL officiating is so inconsistent, it's laughable.

Headbutt, you play the game tomorrow, with the same refs, and that hit on Ovechkin could be called.

It's one of the big things that holds the NHL back. Inconsistent officiating. (Well, that and getting Crosby shoved down everyone's throats).

Oy. Nice save Jose. Great way to survive those 12 seconds.

Moddy, I'm not the biggest Theo guy, and I'm huge on both Varly and Neuvy. But Theo has been playing out of his mind this month. He's got two 40+ save games during this streak. He's been among the better Cappies of late, especially when the defense is so spotty.

No question he's been a major part of this streak. I still don't trust him in big situations.

Pens were the easy play today.

(I reserve the right to backtrack should the Caps comeback for the win.) :)

I think the NHL should make a decress that the Caps and Penguins play every Sunday on national television for the rest of the season. And then both of them scrap their first round series and play each other in a best of 15.....

    I love these games.
