    FUCK.
Oh well, what a great streak.

Habs with the game-winner with 7.5 seconds left in OT.

    I still love this team.

And Brooks Laich was the god tonight. First career hat trick.

Now that the streak is over, this will hopefully just sound a little pissy and not a lot pissy:

Comparing winning streaks now to winning streaks pre-shootout is ridiculous.

That's true, mb. For the record, the only win in the streak that came via shootout was the first game of the streak against Florida.

Then, damn. You'd have nailed me on that one.

In all honesty, I was kinda hoping the caps would break the Pens' record. Because every time I hear "17 in a row" mentioned it only reminds me how the season ended.

Oh, well, scratch Slovakia if Gaborik is out. I'll take the USA for bronze.

Sweden seems to blow hot and cold on these things, so I figure they are due for an off Olympics after winning gold in Torino. People forget Slovakia was 5-0 in the prelims before losing to the Czechs in the quarterfinals.

I really HATE the format. Only three round-robin games, instead of five. One loss can really be damaging. I know there was a complaint in Torino about too many games in too few days. For the sake of the Olympics, couldn't the NHL shut down for three more days and let them start the tourney on Saturday.

I just don't think a six-game tournament (three round-robin, three elimination) is a real test of who the best team is. Maybe they should schedule another Summit Series. It's been, what, 38 years. I'd love to see Canada-Russia or whomever, go at it over a best-of-seven. Unfortunately, with the expensive NHL contracts and risk of injury, plus a season that already lasts nine months, I doubt that will ever happen again.

Should this have stood as a goal?

Caps announcers were struggling to come up with the proper explanation for why it was waved off last night. But the idea of it being "indirect goalie interference" makes sense to me, as it was clear that Alex was trying to knock Gill off his skates to get to the puck. I was a little upset and confused at the time, but it makes more sense now.

Nothing controversial about that call. OV drove Gill right into Price.

Oh, I agree. In the heat of the moment I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on, though. The fact that Boudreau didn't get irate over it led me to believe it was the correct call.

Considering Boudreau goes bonkers pretty much every time there's a call against the Caps, that should answer the question right there.

/No, I don't actually see *that* many Caps games. So I'm sure that's a bit of an exaggeration.
    //Maybe.
