I know that and it's a fair point. But 26 years old is still pushing the envelope IMO. I know they reduced the max age after Makarov won it, but I think it should come down again. Not that it really matters at the end of the day, but still.

Starting to get concerned here about the Caps' continual problems with falling in deep first-period holes. Also, apparently as a fan I don't want to see Montreal in round one since Washington inexplicably has a losing record against the six Canadian clubs, including consecutive losses to Calgary and Ottawa.

Not quite NHL related and I am sure JJ can come up with some obscure guy who played Jr. D in Wingham in the 1920s who can top this but Colt Kennedy has to be one of the few (only?) guys to play Game 7's on consecutive nights.

He was called up by the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs for their series finale against the Brampton Battalion last night and he will play for the Tier II Kingston Voyageurs tonight against the Oakville Blades in the deciding game in the Ontario Jr. A loop final.

And knowing how that dogfucker works (or doesn't) both his teams will gack Game 7 away.

    Fronts down, Voyageurs to go.

Kennedy was one of the better Fronts last night for what that's worth.

I have to confess that I'm stumped. I don't know that it's happened before. But if I do ever find out, I'll be sure to let you know. :D

Leafs fans (aka "suckers"), get ready for another hosing - your favourite team has new home and away sweaters coming out next year.

    http://thestar.blogs.com/thespin/2010/03/a-new-leaf-look-for-next-season.html

The Leafs went to their current look after the 2004-05 lockout when the entire league switched to a new manufacturer. The look of the jerseys was very basic, blue and white, while the lack of any piping around the waist created a t-shirt effect that many have panned.

The new jerseys won't include dramatic changes, but will add some lines and piping to where none currently existed. The Leafs applied in April, 2009 for the uniform change, which will take effect for Brian Burke's second full season in Toronto. When he was in Anaheim, he also changed that team's uniforms to the currently black and orange scheme.

The new Leaf uniforms are likely to be unveiled in the summer, probably on a date when, it's expected, Dion Phaneuf will be named the club's next captain.

You know the drill - line up, get your wallets out, bend over. Lube is optional.

I'm actually glad the Leafs are getting new jerseys. This year's edition is abominable--the t-shirt comparison is apt.

I can see a "Phaneuf" with a big "C" on the right shoulder in HC's future.

Maybe there's a 19-year-old drafted junior whose team got bounced in a Game 7, then played for a pro team in a Game 7 the next night. None come to be, but I'll get to thinking about it.

To think all your next captain cost was Stajan, Hagman and White.
