You know, I'm not knocking hockey, I have nothing against hockey. I don't really follow it. But I do follow sports, watch ESPN about as many hours as I sleep, and read sports sites like they're attached to my eyeballs.

But apparently the NHL regular season has started and I just found out.

Yet you sought out the hockey thread to presumably note that hockey is no longer a mainstream sport and isn't covered on ESPN 24-7. OK then. Yawn. Next.

There are people in the crowd at Denver wearing Nordiques jerseys. Awesome.

    I'm so happy.

Outside of the fact they still haven't learned to play 60 minutes (klee-shay), Kiprusoff was awesome, Phaneuf through great hits, a Newfie scored a goal, and the beer was yummalicious.

    Good time had by all.

    Except for Canucks fans. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I, don't even like Canuck fans.

I love that about you. A good friend is a Canucks fan and when she starts talking hockey to me, I want to punch her in the throat.

Leafs outshot the Habs by a margin of 20 and lose with thirteen seconds in OT.

True to form, the defence was suspect and Toskala couldn't make the big save while at the other end Carey Price was steady as a rock.

And Avs win their opener 5-2. Brampton Battalion Matt alumnae Duchene had his first NHL point and Wojtek Wolski had two goals.

No, yawner, I sought out the hockey thread to say something about hockey. It would be rather silly to post in the baseball thread or the NFL thread about hockey.

Hockey hasn't been a mainstream sport for years. However, hockey has at least been covered. It has at least been a headline when the season started. There was at least advance warning for those casual observors. I have plenty of FB friends who are hockey fans and rejoiced on their status lines when training camp started. Even none of them mentioned anything about regular season starting.
