And 3.00 Mendoza line for GAA? Or should that be a little lower?

They need a leader also someone who can talk to the press thus take some pressure of other players.

The league average save percentage is .903 and the GAA is 2.88. Your Mendoza line standards are way too harsh :)

Complete bullshit. Their record would be the same if they named a captain or not.

They need a goalie and a defenceman who can make a first pass to get them out of their end. The best leader in sports can't help those two things.

MacDonald in goal, Stajan and Hagman out, Bozak and Stalberg in.

This should not be a requirement for wearing the C.

The importance people place on a C could be the most overrated thing in hockey -- That and the Flames' defence.

You don't need a letter to be a leader. Gordie Howe was one of hockey's great leaders and he only wore the C for four of his 25 years in Detroit.

but it most definitely is, and it can where a player out. Naslund looked like he just got a root canal every time he was talking to the media

There are 18 (?) other guys on the team and each one of them has a responsibility to answer media questions. Each one should be capable of handling a media interview.

1-0 for the Flames in Columbus.

I agree, but in every city it's the captain who seems to have to speak for the team.
