I've always maintained that's laziness on the part of the reporters.

And goddamn it if I'm not gonna snap this week ... it's only early in the season, too.

And in Toronto and Montreal that role is elevated--whether you agree with it or not, that's the reality.

Sundin was bland but never dodged the four newspapers, the three TV networks or the assorted radio guys who'd show up at his locker after every game.

No one questions the responsibility of each player to answer media questions. That's a given--well, unless you're a puke like Tucker who used to run out the back door every time the Leafs had a bad loss.

Oh, and Leafs lose 4-1 to the Avs.

EDIT: And only in Leafsland could they do a video tribute to said puke Tucker during a stoppage in the first period.

Leafs Nation: Spirit is Everything, as opposed to you know, winning.

So when do Tucker and Domi go up in the rafters?

I love all stories Georges Laraque, including this one ...

MONTREAL — The city's most prominent vegan had some explaining to do Tuesday as he described his involvement in an Internet ad which features scantily-clad women and an energy drink whose dual kick comes from alcohol and caffeine.

The ad (see below), for an alcoholic beverage called Octane 7.0, opens with a series of shots which pan over the women's bodies as they stretch in preparation for a street hockey game against Montreal Canadiens forward Georges Laraque.

I was at the Leafs-Avs game to see two of the guys I worked with who play for Colorado. Horrific hockey game, Avs aren't great but they have a lot more talent than the Leafs who are abominable. This could be the worst Leafs team of my lifetime and that's saying something considering some of the shit we suffered through in the Ballard era.

Now I haven't been a Leaf sympathizer since I was a little kid and didn't know any better but they know how to put on a game day. Great - if a little too long - pregame tribute to Teeder Kennedy (I think JR saw him play as a bantam way back in the day!) and the Tucker thing was damn good. Yeah he's a puke but still a pretty effective one from what I saw last night.

Never liked Tucker--Sideshow Bob was a pretty good description--- although I must admit he did calm down later on. And to top it all off, the Leafs are paying about $1 million per year of his salary for the next couple of years.

Caught the first period over at The Goose--it was on Pravda Leafs TV which is almost entirely unwatcheable as a hockey broadcast. It's one long shill for MLSE.

Listened to the rest on radio.

It's not even Halloween and I've tuned out. Took me to January last year.

I'm selling my cheering rights to the highest bidder.

Yesterday, the AP story on this called him Laraque in the lede. In the second graf, called him Brashear. Then it was back to Laraque at the end of the story.

    From Mirtle:

"Well, I think it's absurd. This guy has coached over 1,000 games in the NHL. Did he suddenly forget how to coach? I can tell you this, there will be numerous, multiple player changes before the coaching staff would even be looked at, let alone considered. The players are at fault here. We're not getting it done. It's not the coaching staff. It's the players not executing."

Holy crap, what a save by Ward. Beautiful play by Crosby, Kunitz and Guerin there. Just glad the Penguins won in the shootout, especially after seeing that save.
