The Penguins last year being an excellent example, going from 10th in the Eastern Conference in mid-February to Stanley Cup champions. Long ways to go this season.

Apparently Wilson sent a message to the players Thursday by a 22-minute . . .

    wait for it . . .

Game of dodgeball. They also played a few other on-ice games. That's the kind of coaching that will turn that franchise around. Apparently they've given up on the season already and are getting ready to take on Ben Stiller and his gym.

Let me tell you, a practice like that hasn't occurred since the Helsinki episode of 1919, and I think we all know how that turned out.

more like times 1000. Apparently it he didn't have a problem with the media his first 2 seasons, when the Bruins weren't getting any ink!

By my count, Burke acquisitions have played 38 of 120 man games this year. I'll have to whip out my calculator, but I don't think that constitutes a vast majority.

My contributions to the running NHL threads are limited to irrelevant stuff, so I'll mention that in Clarence Clemons' (pretty bad) new autobiography, he recreates dialogue from what he says are a bunch of get-togethers through the years between him and Kinky Friedman and Bob Dylan. (He writes in the third person in this chapter, fwiw.)

    It includes:

"I always meant to ask you, Bob, who's your favorite performer?" said Kinky.

"I've always like Gary Unger from St. Louis," said Bob. He put his hand to his chin and thought awhile.

Clarence stole a glance at Kinky and mouthed the question "Gary Unger"? Kinky shrugged.

"Bobby Clarke," Bob continued. "Dan Maloney. Butch Goring..."

"I thought I knew every musician in the world," said Kinky. "But I've never heard of these guys."

    "Me, neither," said Clarence.

"They're hockey players," said Bob. "When you said 'performer,' I thought you were talking about hockey players."

"Why the fuck would you think I was talking about fucking hockey players?" said Kinky.

Bob shrugged. "I guess I was thinking about hockey," he said.

Nice to see Bob was apparently a hockey fan while growing up in Minnesota. :)

Vast majority, ok over stepped, but the guys he's brought in still haven't done a lot, in fact some of them have been main culprits of their mess -- I'm looking at you Komisarek.

Buffalo is scoring at will, again. Biron to come in.

Would like to point out to JC that Penner has found his game. Scored twice tonight to give him five on the year and nine points -- both stats lead the team -- and is a plus five through seven games. Quinn is so impressed with him that Penner was wearing an A tonight.

Oh and Oilers win 5-2 over the Wild.

Is there any rhyme or reason as to why the Flames have had Luongo's number so far this season?

I don't know, but they did their best to blow another five goal lead tonight.
