I would like to point out to Beef that it's 7 games. I'll take the larger sample size to judge a player. Still a ludicrous contract and nobody and I mean nobody would trade a 1,2 and 3 and tie up 4.5 in cap room for Bustin Penne.

He actually came into camp in shape for the first time in his life, good for him, he finally attempting to be a professional.

So after 7 games Penne is a lock for Team Canada.

Wow. You sure like to jump to conclusions there. Who the hell said anything about playing for Team Canada? You were the one asking about his conditioning in camp. Just thought I would give you the update that through seven games plus the pre-season he has pulled his shit together and to this point has been arguably the best Oilers forward. Plus he kills penalties and has been active physically. I know how much that would annoy you, so I had to let you know. And yes it is only seven games in, he could just as easily fall apart the rest of the season. BUT if this is a sign for things to come for the remainder of his contract -- pops in 35 goals and 65-70 points per season -- he will very much be at least worth his contract.

If the Flames sweep the Van-Cgy series and go out in the first round against, say, Colorado, I could still be happy with the season.

So, if he has one good year out a 4 year cap killing contract, which you gave up 3 young players for this is good enough for you? Wish you were my boss.

Him playing well does not annoy me in the least, you mistake me with someone who revolves his life around this shit. Again, 95% of hockey people realize what an unmotivated turd Penne is. He has talent and the size to be special, and will bring it in spurts which gets fanbois excited and willing to justify what a colossal mistake Lowe's move was. He's a tease, every sport has them, plays well enough to have you think there might be something there until he reverts to his lazy uncommitted self again.

Maybe Penne has learned he has no more excuses and he has no one to blame but himself, but I doubt it. Every sport is filled with these guys that make you scratch your head and wonder why they can't be better on a consistent basis. He will probably have a decent season but I wouldn't bet on him repeating it.

Penne at a mill no problem, Penne at 4.5 laughable.

Only thing the Canucks won last night, another Rypien Prust fight.
Didn't beat him like the last time but got the decision. Canucks look absolutely dreadful.

He has three years left on the contract. All I said is IF this new Penner plays out the rest of his contract in this fashion then three years of Penner at this level is worth the 4.25 per remaining on his contract. All I said was contract, at this point, unless he does something real special, the price to get him is looking steaper by the year. You obviously also glossed over the part where I said it is very possible that he tanks the rest of the season. All I'm doing right now is giving credit where credit is due.

BTW - I figured it annoyed you by how over the top you take your responses whenever the name Penner comes up.

Love the Penguins sky blue throwbacks.

Coming into tonight, the Blackhawks were outshooting opponents 255-141, leading the league in shots and third from the fewest in shots allowed.

They are outshooting Dallas 13-4 as I type this.

I'm beginning to believe this team is better than I though they would be.

    They are quite classy.

I prefer most NHL throwbacks to their current composition.

Leafs are outshooting the Rangers but it's 3-1 for New York after 2

Felix Potvin was one of three ex Leafs doing the ceremonial face-off.

He looks like he could come back and couldn't do any worse than the clowns the Leafs have in goal

Before the game they showed the Potvin/Hextall fight, one of the greatest goalie fights of all time.

The Cat cleaned Ronnie's clock--hit him with a couple of rights then clocked him with three lefts.

One of my favourite Leafs of the last couple of decades. Had the demeanor of a Jesuit priest but that fight changed all that. A street fighter.
