I'm playing devil's advocate here. You don't have to "change your game". You can just decide not to knock a guy unconscious in a meaningless pre-season game. That's my point.

    Nice overreaction.

But I guess if Phaneuf didn't make the hit, it's the end of hockey as we know it.

you know the saying......the minute a player starts "letting up", is when they get injured. It was a clean hit........and I'm sure he'll have his head up going from now on.

Two valuable messages for the rest of the league:

    1. Keep your head up.
    B. The 'Dome is not going to be a friendly environment for you.
    5. Phaneuf is healthy and pissed off.

    Yay!

I hear you, but in a sports like football and hockey I think it may be a little harder to back off.

I just hate preseason hockey. the players are in such good shape that they could do with 4 or 5 games, start the season earlier and have the Stanley cup handed out at the end of May.

They do it in the all-star game every year. :)

And I agree with you about the pre-season. Players dont' need more than a two week camp to get ready for the season. It's not like the old days when they showed up in camp to GET into shape.

And Scott Gomez learns what it's like to be a Hab.

"It's the first time I've ever been in a sell-out in preseason," said Gomez, who talked about how cool it felt to sit in the Habs Bell Centre dressing room for the first time and come to the rink as a home-side player. "It's everything they said it would be."

Ted Green and Wayne Maki tried to kill each other in a preseason game, 40 years ago this summer. Maki almost succeeded in his attempt.

I wouldn't like this if I'm a Leaf fan. Stay the course and accumulate those draft picks.

Intersting bit of jouranlistic homerism from Minnesota. Is anybody familiar with this guys work? The comments are quite intersting, he really tries to defend his position.
