Apparently the grace period for being Dale Earnhardt's widow has ended. Jenna Fryer of the AP and Yahoo blogger Jay Hart cut loose on Teresa yesterday.

    Fryer: http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=ap-nascar-inthepits&prov=ap&type=lgns
    Hart: http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=jh-earnhardt041409&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

    They ain't wrong, either.

The Earnhardt-Elvis commemorative #3 Chevrolet Monte Carlo runs on high-test irony.

    EDIT-2ndADD: Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Darlington has announced that the upcoming event will be called "the Southern 500 presented by GoDaddy.com" ... fuckers.

It's probably already been worked out to sell No. 8 to Junior for next season, so gullible fans who've already gone to town on the 88 merchandise can feel what Michael Jordan acolytes went through when he came back to hoops wearing 45 and then switched back to his original 23.

No matter how ridiculous things get, always count on Teresa Earnhardt to lower the bar.

Junior's ability to handle that entire situation with grace and dignity should be remembered come time to write the family bio.

David Newton on ESPN.com had a different Teresa take:

David Newton is waaaayy off base.
Teresa truly deserves her share if anyone ever did. She helped brand Dale Earnhardt and build DEI. Unfortunately, she wants her share and everyone else's for her and Taylor Nicole. (see Yoko/Sean Lennon, Julian Lennon).

I don't know this for a fact, but my gut feeling having sat down with Dale more than once, is that he would have wanted all his children to share in his legacy. Again, THAT IS JUST MY EDUCATED OPINION. I never discussed Dale Earnhardt's family with him and don't make any such claims.

Newton failed to mention that Jr. had to take Teresa to court to get the rights to his on friggin name. Didn't she try to get money out of the town of Kannapolis when they wanted to sell commemorative coins to raise money for the upkeep of a statue? Money seems to be her driving factor, and to repeat she deserves her share because from what I understand it was her savvy that created the Earnhardt marketing juggernaut, but it seems she has killed the golden goose.

Didn't know David Newton was battling to write the latest apologist piece for ESPN The Magazine. Bad, bad, bad ...

No one said Teresa Earnhardt doesn't deserve something. But Shoeless Joe is correct that she has killed the golden goose. People don't turn out to see Teresa Earnhardt; they turn out to see Junior - fair or not.

But please, Mr. Newton, keep trying to paint Teresa as the victim. The unintentional humor is somewhat amusing.

Hail Canada! Trevor Boys will try to qualify for the Cup race at Phoenix.

It's like the late 1980s have come back for revenge.

Boys does not qualify, since car was capable of speeds insufficient for fast lane of route 128.

Good to see Mark Martin in Victory Lane, but what's the deal with Junior?

Casey Mears wiped him out during the race.

  11. Think Dario is happy to be out of NASCAR?
    He won Sunday's IRL race.

  12. Junior got his revenge according to the notebook.

Think NASCAR will sanction him. This is what now twice this season he's taken out a driver.
