That sounds like something they'd say.

So, about Jeff Gordon's lower back ... how long will he stay in racing if short tracks and road courses cause him a lot of discomfort and pain?

1stADD: Truex to Mikey Waltrip Racing is a done deal, as Mike Mulhern quotes the word on the street.

How in the hell do you quote the word on the street? I love Mulhern, but that's just "quoting" rumor.

Either you've got it or you don't.

I'm just surprised he didn't directly quote the word on the street to the tune of about 8 paragraphs. :D

    Did they really do this?

CONCORD, N.C. (AP)—The morning after NASCAR’s longest race was rained out, teams were not allowed to touch the cars before the rescheduled start of the Coca-Cola 600 on Monday.

But as race officials faced the threat of more showers, they planned a competition caution once about 40 laps had been completed at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It would allow teams to first get some new rubber on the washed out track before they could adjust to racing in the daylight instead of at night.

“As much rain as we had since yesterday, the track surface and whatever rubber that had been scuffed out there from the Nationwide race and all the practices we’ve had, it may not be completely gone, but it’s pretty doggone close,” Sprint Cup Series director John Darby said. “So we’ll run off 40 laps and let them get some rubber down and then let everybody adjust to that and go from there.”

I mean, why not just script the entire race, like WWE.

Yes, S-P. Not really a surprise, either.

Drivers and teams aren't really big fans of a "green track." So let them run 40 laps, throw a mandatory caution, let everyone pit for fuel and four tires and continue on.

Not sure why NASCAR feels the need for a mandatory caution other than a fabricated excuse to bunch the field again, but anyway ...

Why not let drivers and teams pit under green and actually use, you know, *strategy*.

Or, face reality in that it's NASCAR. To go 40 consecutive laps without a yellow at the start of a race is somewhat of a pipe dream anyway. They have enough cautions ... why need scripted ones?

SI.com's Tom Bowles: "This week, I had a reliable source tell me Tony Eury Jr. won't be the crew chief of the No. 88 as of Dover this weekend. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen …"

  12. Well then how the FUCK reliable is the "source?"

FWIW: Eury should have parted ways with Jr. when he came to Hendrick -- if not sooner. Don't know if he just sucks or can't work with Jr.
