Wow - so odd watching TNT's coverage. It's like an actual sporting event instead a three-ring circus.

Adding some industry gossip to the thread... anyone know if the Charlotte Observer is close to filling its NASCAR beat job?

I had heard there were two finalists, but that's from others on the beat. So who knows?

My old paper ran one of Jenna Fryer's pieces today (it no longer covers racing outside this state) about Kyle Busch smashing the hand-painted guitar/trophy given to the Nationwide winner at Nashville. A shake-your-head piece, as in I shook my head at Busch's act and his justification (frustration and he wanted to give his whole team a piece of the thing).

On the first whack, the guitar was still intact. Gibson makes a fine product!

I don't get outraged at anything Busch does anymore, but I marvel at the ink he generates. Has anyone cared about a Nashville Nationwide race for this long afterward?

Idiotic. There are other ways to symbolize your frustrations, Kyle. Or is he relishing being a bad boy and doesn't care if everyone knows that he lacks class?

That's the kind of guy you want to see punted into the wall at 190 mph, with a fervent hope no one else gets caught up in the carnage.

Let's see. Who's getting mileage out of a mid-season AAA race?

    Nashville Speedway? Check
    Gibson? Check
    Sam Bass? Check
    Kyle Busch? Check
    Buschwide Series? Checkers

I don't think they mind one bit.

Doesn't change the fact that Busch is an uber-douchebag who needs to be punted into the wall at 190 mph.

Lost in all this Busch-shit¹ ... yesterday Johnny Benson's truck team folded due to lack of sponsorship and Richard Petty Motorsports laid off 9 and cut salaries across the board because Chrysler hasn't been paying its NASCAR teams. (Richard Petty may be switching to Toyota next year ... utter sacrilege.)¹Look, somebody just punt him into Lake Lloyd next month so the alligator can get him, okay? Maybe having a foot gnawed off will force him to grow up and stop being a douchebag for no good reason.
