I can't put my finger on why, perhaps its that they use fewer people, but I really prefer TNT's coverage. I usually learn something new from every broadcast rather than tripe like "that's just one of those racin' deals."

TNT shows the race and makes the race its focus. Fox is too busy with Digger, boogity-boogity-boogity! and Crank It Up! If it weren't for Krista Voda, Fox Sports' NASCAR coverage would have no redeeming value whatsoever.

Kyle Petty is the best analyst in TV motorsports right now.

I am REALLY impresed with Kyle. I learn something new about the race or cars that I did not know prior. He's is really intersting.
    Still like DW though ..

For the most part, TNT does a fine job.

However, Bill Weber and Wally Dallenbach's "oooing" and "Whoa whoa whoa" about three times a lap gets old fast.

The yelling makes me feel like somebody is on fire. Or wrecking. Or has just parachuted onto the track surface and is trying to avoid becoming Robby Gordon roadkill.

But usually, the "oohs" or the "whoas" are simply for those rare occasions when side-by-side racing takes place.

Kyle gets commentator points deducted for not understanding NASCAR's rules. Kevin Harvick made a scheduled green flag pit stop today and Kyle said, a bit startled, "that's his pass through penalty for speeding on pit road, right?"

No, Kyle. He already served that.

And considering how much he ripped the whole Richard Petty Racing deal earlier this year, I found Kyle's excitement for the Sonoma win to be just a bit disingenuous.

TNT suspended Bill Weber for the weekend; TR reported that he was involved in a loud public confrontation at his hotel in Manchester. Anybody know with whom or over what?

Also, Jayski is reporting that the Shell/Pennzoil sponsorship might be headed to the 5 car.

And you gotta love how somebody at MWR let it slip that they have a major announcement planned July 7: "someone in our group was asking how Ryan and Martin Truex were related. SOMEHOW....this led to our tour guide telling us that Michael Waltrip Racing would be making a MAJOR announcement on July 7."

And of course, the rumor of Truex to the 55 has been out there for months. Well, a month.

Can Earnhardt-Ganassi-Sabates keep the Bass Pro Shops deal, or does it head to Stewart-Haas as the primary sponsor on the 39 on non-Army weeks?

What was the over/under on young Joey Logano uttering the word "awesome" in victory lane today? I had it at about 25.

Earnhardt Jr. happy, Newman feeling sorta empty at the end, Truex pissed off, Vickers pissed off, Busch Light is veryveryvery sorry.

Vickers had a great sound-bite weekend, between that and unloading on Scott Speed after their Nationwide crash Saturday. Doesn't sound like there's much team harmony in Red Bull these days.
