Earnhardt did understand the sponsor and fan points of view much better than Kyle Busch did, lono. Indisputable. But some animals and a couple of cinder blocks have a better understanding of such than Kyle Busch does.

I agree with everyone above - Earnhardt was an ass - and I laughed out loud at Sam's assessment of the Shrub's mental faculties or lack thereof. :D

Days later, I'm still trying to shake off Ralph Sheheen's broadcast performance. It was Todd Harris-level bad. He took minimalist to undreamt of extremes. That, or the concept of being utterly, completely lost. When Wally Dallenbach sounds like the smart one who's in control, you've got big problems.

    Ralphus sucks.

Danica Patrick got the VIP treatment at Stewart-Haas yesterday.

From Jayski, GM makes major sponsorship cuts:<blockquote><b>General Motors Cuts Sports Spending:</b> In order to emerge from bankruptcy protection, General Motors had the legal right to reject contracts that it had previously signed. GM has now emerged from bankruptcy, but 54 sponsorship agreements it terminated as part of the bankruptcy were filed with the courts yesterday. Some NASCAR related cuts mentioned in the article:

    <b>Track Agreements</b>

California Speedway Corp. (Fontana) -– 70 suite passes w/ pit row access, 35 VIP parking passes

    Daytona International Speedway –- 65 seats w/ 77 tickets, 11 parking passes

Dover International Speedway –- 50 seats w/65 suite passes, 30 VIP

Lowe's Motor Speedway –- 66 suite tickets, 16 pit passes, 10 parking passes

Richmond International Speedway –- 60 person suite, 30 pit passes, 15 parking passes

    <b>Racing Team Sponsorship Agreements</b>

Jeff Burton, personal service agreement (RCR)

    Ryan Newman Motorsports

    <b>Other Sponsorships Agreements</b>

IMG Worldwide (official car)(<a href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/31903635/site/14081545">CNBC</a>)(7-14-2009)</blockquote>GM also axing sponsorship deals with NHRA and Grand Am (no surprise, it marketed Pontiac in those two series), along with the Oakland Raiders.

The positives: I've heard of some of them. And none of them have the word "fan" in the title. :D

Anybody know what happened to Bill Weber?

Let's not put Shaheen in the same class as Todd Harris, the worst racing play-by-play man I've ever heard.

Shaheen wasn't good. But my biggest problem with the TNT coverage was the ridiculous "WHOAS" and "OOOOOHHS" coming from Wally and Kyle anytime anybody made a pass.

I hadn't heard word 1 about this, that I can remember, so figured I'd post it here. All thoughts go to Eddie, who isn't everyone's cup of tea but is REALLY very good at his job.
