Dr. Mattioli has decided not to have the ongoing carousel of sponsor names unless the sponsor is willing to accept "Pennsylvania 500"/"Pocono 500" as a key part of the name. Good on 'im.

Expect the fall Dover races to have sponsors tied in by the time the team transports get there. Spring Cup race didn't have a sponsor of any sort until a few weeks before the event. Last year, they didn't announce Camping World for the fall Cup race until mid-August.

Brando would have advised Angola to use butter.

Jamie McMurray's been told he can look for another ride with his sponsorship going to Kenseth.

If Petty did, in fact, want to dump Sorenson, now would be a fine time.

I believe the plan/hope is to transfer the 26 team as a whole to Yates.

I pay so little attention to NASCAR these days that I couldn't have picked Sorenson out of a lineup.....but, holy shit, he looks like Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

I just wanted to say that David Ragan is clearly the greatest driver in the history of Roush Racing, that he's a marvelous find by Jack Roush and Geoff Smith and that on Monday he showed exactly what he's capable of doing in the closing laps of a tough race.

    Thank you for your attention.

Was it Ragan who Stewart referred to as a dart without feathers at Martinsville one year? I remember him causing six cautions all by himself there one day. We kept count.

I still have a hard time believing Mayfield would go to such extremes to defend himself if he knew he was wrong. I also don't see how Mayfield could hide drug use from so long and fool multiple car owners.
Having said that, I still can't tell who is telling the truth. I have questioned the wisdom of NASCAR many times over the years, but would they really be dumb enough to go all-out after a guy it knows to be innocent, and take the huge amount of bad publicity to go with it?
Whatever happens, I just hope it doesn't get settled out-of-court since I want to know the real truth.

Oh, by the way ... the official reason for Mike Wallace being out of the race was "parked." That's right, NASCAR black-flagged the 64 and told Wallace to head for the garage area. In as flagrant an example of start-and-parking as we've seen in decades, the Gunselman Racing team didn't even have a pit crew yesterday. Maybe they would have had a crew Sunday, and maybe those guys had to go back to real jobs on Monday, so maybe that alone kept Gunselman and the Bodine brothers from being forced to buy gas and/or tires for the race.

    I kinda doubt it.

If you'll take a look, from about 37th place on back were start and parkers who ran roughly 40-odd laps ... transmission, handling, overheating, etc.
