It's hard to find that way out in the dark. ... Hell, just invite last year's Chasers, that way everybody's covered ... yeah, including Kyle. Dammit, why can't he be Kyle Petty instead of Kyle Busch? ... What's that you said? Kyle can't go? Schedule conflict? Thank God for small mira- «cough» «hack» ah, that's truly unfortunate. Maybe we can get him a White House snow globe or something.
"Speaking of Petty, better call The King. In fact, I think we should invite all of our living champions so we have all our bases covered ... No, I don't think Bobby Allison will go unless we let him land his own plane on the lawn, and his doctors made him stop flying after the Pocono thing. ... And, uh, that's about it, right? Got all our major people? ... Well, yeah, they're all white ... Thank you, Brian, but I know Obama's the first black president. ... The problem there is that the Drive For Diversity thing isn't paying off as quick as we'd hoped. Montoya? But Brian ... yeah, he's a minority ... but ... dammit, Brian, he's not even an American driver!"

I really have not hidden how much I don't miss covering NASCAR.

Except for this weekend. Goddamn I loved me some Bristol night racin'. I just e-mailed Paul Woody and told him to walk out onto the Goodyear building tomorrow night and just watch the traffic whip around for a few minutes. It's my favorite spectacle in racing, down inside that bowl, fans all around, cars just bumper to bumper whipping around. GodDAMN I love me some Bristol night racin'.

I posted on his PR girl's Facebook page last week that I fell a little in love with him after the NNS race. Then I fell MORE in love with him after the Cup race. If he did it again? I might have to throw my allegiance behind Vickers full time.
