I like speed, but I also like driving. Too often the Californias, Homesteads, Chicagos etc. look like the cars going round look like a carousel. I like seeing the drivers moving through traffic. Bristol is a great combination because the drivers don't bunch up like the restrictor plate tracks and they don't get too spread out forcing a driver to keep on eye on his rearview mirror as well as what is coming up.

Okay, wait a minute ... innovation under the hood? That ain't NASCAR!

It's not the tracks. Variety is great and allows everyone to have their pet complaint.

It's the 500 miles or laps every freaking week. Put in some kind of twist. Doesn't necessary mean a shorter night or "less" racing for the paying customer and the hot dog vendors, you could do a World of Outlaws-type format with heats and main events and consolations, etc. Nascar's smart enough to figure out a way to do it outside all-star weekend.

Holy everloving hell, did Kyle Busch just give credit to someone else? Did he just say nice things about Mark Martin, THEN SAY HE DESERVED TO WIN THE RACE?

Or am I in Bizarro World?

  5. What else was Kyle going to say?
Mark Martin... He's too god damn nice to NOT bump and run Kyle on the last lap to win the race.
He was courteous as Hell and Kyle should've been grateful.

Iowa is a short track. Granted, it's not a Sprint Cup track yet, but all the other major series (IRL, Nationwide Series) race there. Maybe it gets a Cup race someday.

God, I hope not. Would have to undergo major seating expansion and it's just one big, boring curve. It's like a shrunk-down Michigan, Kansas, Chicago or California.

To quote Mike Helton on the topic of a Cup race at Iowa: "No."

Iowa was built more similar to Richmond than Bristol.

I was just looking at distance with the mention of Iowa. Had no idea of Helton's comments or its seating situation.
This is why I mostly lurk on this thread :)

Martin needs to make the Chase period - I think it was more a smart play than a courtesy play. With more wins than anyone, he's in good shape, as long as he makes it. Found it interesting that it appears Keslowski is heading to Penske next year instead of getting a ride at Hendricks. Keselowski's a good driver, but I kind of wonder how he'll fare going from Hendrick to Penske.

If it keeps the "non-working personnel" out, I would pay it.

Does this include the NASCAR Citizen Journalist Media Corps?

If this was IndyCar, the media would just go en masse to Penske hospitality.
