Avalanche promote from within for their new GM, and then sweep Granato and his staff out the door.

Good luck signing talent with limited cap room and not too many departures, Avs. Even if Joe Sakic retires, there are too many needs and not enough cap room to begin addressing this mess.

And two of those needs are goalie. Both Budaj and Raycroft are free agents.

Both are horrible. Neither would be missed.

Very true, but do they want to throw a rookie into the fire, knowing how many holes they have to fill.

Could be a situation for a journeyman/backup to get a starting role.

Would hate to lose him here, but Conklin could be an option for the Avs. His one-year deal is up with Detroit and the Wings have said they want to bring up Jimmy Howard next year.

According to hockeysfuture.com, Trevor Cann is their best goaltending prospect, No.10 within the organization, but I can't find anything on him for the past season, only through 2007-08.

Then, he had a 3.59 GAA and a .906 save percentage for the Peterborough Petes.

The Lightning brought in Tavares, Hedman and Duchene for a private workout in Tampa today.

If Cann is their goalie of the future, the Avs are fucked. He was benched by the London Knights in the Western Conference final in favour of a guy from Jr. B. Can't believe Colorado signed him.

Was there something there in 2007? They drafted him in the second round.

Whoa, some interesting news coming down the pipeline ...

    Ray Emery to the Flyers:

And Marc Habscheid is going back to junior. He'll be coaching the Chilliwack Bruins.

Well, at least the Flyers keep up the tradition of signing mediocre goalies.

I mean, when was the last time they had someone halfway decent? Do you go back to Bernie Parent?
