I find it interesting how he wants to go to the Western Conference. You don't hear that too much. Probably the best fit for him would be Chicago, maybe a straight swap for Brian Campbell?

Would love to see him in Edmonton, but I don't see that happening.

I have an idea where he might end up, but not sure how that will work with Magic Math here.

Speaking of Dave Tippett ... he's finally run out of lives.

Holy shit! I really thought Nieuwendyk would give him a year at least.

He won't be out of work long.

Yeah, the suddenness of it surprised me. I figured he'd start the year on a short leash at least.

Wonder if he'll wind up on the Team Canada staff.

I wonder if Guy Carbonneau is also in the mix. If he is, I'd think he'd have the edge because of his ties with the 1999-2000 Cup runs. Plus, Brenden Morrow is his son-in-law.

Burke hires Francois Allaire away from the Ducks:

This may deserve its own thread - three Molson brothers want to buy the Montreal Canadiens.

Their bid is independent of the 20 per cent of the team already owned by Molson Coors Brewery. The Molson family bought the team in 1957 before selling the controlling interest to George Gillett eight or nine years ago.

Gillett apparently wants to sell, and let's hope he does. And let's pray that he sells it to the Molsons rather than to the other well-heeled bidder - media parasites Quebecor, partnered with Celine Dion's husband of all people.

If you're a goalie, you bow down to Francois Allaire. A legend.

Hard to believe David Marcoux hasn't signed with anyone yet ... at least not that I've seen.
