Two different people but both holding the same distinction of knowing little or nothing about hockey.

It would have been a very angry year.

Yeah, but I don't think Pronger is at the stage of his career where he was a few years ago. If they think Johnson is going to be a stud, why give up on him? I thought he was part of their future plans.

So to give him up AND a top 5 pick? I dunno.... Seems like a much better deal for the Ducks than for the Kings.

Jim Rutherford is not an idiot, and he traded Johnson for less than even money. Dean Lombardi is not an idiot, and there are rumours he's giving up Johnson in a deal that brings back less than even money.

And this goes back to my first question. If this deal happens, name another top-3 pick traded twice by age 22.

    Perhaps it's Johnson.

Dave Tippett is apparently interviewing for the Wild job, at least that's what James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail - @mirtle - is saying on Twitter.

I would trust Mirtle as a source.

Great guy and sharp as a tack.

AMac---HC & I had beers with him and Chris Young of the Star at the Goose a few years back. Lots of fun.

He's a Loops boy. Don't know how long ago he left, though ...

Maurice gets a three-year deal to remain Canes coach and the staff remains intact.

'Bout f_cking time. What the hell were the Whalercanes dragging this out?

Mo showed he's continuing to learn, Ron Francis basically gets to learn both behind the bench and some front-office stuff as well. Tom Barrasso may be a pain in the butt personally, but Cam Ward is learning and growing with him in charge.
