Holy balls, that's one expensive defense the Flames are gonna ice.

True, but that's a nice base of stalwart players awaiting next season in the Saddledome. Come through with a couple of underrated players here and there and that's a dangerous, dangerous team.

Surely Jay Bouwmeester and Olli Jokinen will like playing in a market and on a team that seems to care about results. Good for both of them.

TSN: Heatley to Edmonton, if he waives his NTC

Sources say Dany Heatley has been asked to waive his no-trade clause to go to Edmonton in exchange for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid. If Heatley agrees to waive it, it would appear that the Senators and Oilers will have a deal.

edit: sportsnet says it's a done deal.

Heatley has refused to go to Edmonton.

If it's true that Heatley killed the deal, would it be fair to think other GMs would be scared to touch him? He's had fallouts with, what, three coaches? Was given six years and $45 million and a no-trade clause that he wanted, then killed a deal after saying he wanted out after one season with that new deal?

What GM would want a player like that in the locker room?

Spector was saying yesterday Heatley for Phaneuf. I suppose it's possible, but I doubt it.

    Dear Mr. Heatley,
You are not welcome at camp this year. Stay home.
    Cheers,
    The Senators
